how would you use your college degree to help imrpove the black community?
welp, i plan on being an urban planner/civil engineer.....so here goes...
my plan would be to get rid of the black comunity.....whoops...i mean get rid of the ghettos...
i would work out a way to give poor blacks a better quality of life by getting rid of ghettos and giving an opprotunity to attend good schools and enjoy suburban life...then i'd turn the ghetto into an entertainment district where black people make money off of whites comming from the suburbs to spend thier money...then i'd destroy all of the public housing and build expensive condos where i charge white buisness mega bucks to live in the city close to everything...
poor people of any race do not do well when they are clustered together....look at the idian reservations out west, the barrios out west, the poor rural white areas of the south, appalachia! it doesn't matter what skin color you are, poor people clsutered together just don't do well period...
so as a future urban planner, i'm going to help pass laws that gives tax breaks to apartment communities that reserve at least 10% of thier units for low income families...that way, low income families can move out into new developements out in the suburbs instead of being clustered in one place...they will attend nice schools, be away from crime, and just have a better quality of life period...i don't believe that anyone should not be able to live in a safe area with good schools just because of thier income...
then, we can turn the inner city into like a night hot spot...clubs, returants, gym clubs, payless outlets...botiques....stuff that white people like...kinda what they got going here in columbia...this place called 5 points...i guess it was a former slum located next to an industrial area, and now it's full of shops and clubs...white people come from the suburbs into this once destitute area to spend thier money on weekends...the only thing i'm mad about is that alot of the stuff isn't black owned...i would try to encourage blacks to OWN the new buisnesses...that way blacks make money in thier formerly impoverished area instead of it seeming that the crackers kicked all the n!ggers out and found a way for the area to prosper...

So what i would do would be to build recreational things in the areas where they are not present or they are run down so kids wouldn't have to go all the way across town just to play on a team or play their sport and therefore not be able to. For one, I'd built real baseball fields around the poor areas of the city so kids could get to experience and excel in one of the easiest and definately the most lucrative american sport by far, and not only be shown how to play basketball and football. I would also try to build all kinds of different recreational areas, like tennis courts and things like that. I think there's so many things out there that could help a lot of people get out of their situation but they're just not given the facilities to do it.

i agree with you there...the communities that don't go for my redistrubution plan, i'd fill those areas up with YMCAs or some sh!t like that ...
i dunno i might go into politics too so i'd become the love conservative black voice and get the black community to embrace it's conservative moral values...i'd start a fathers campaign and pay comics, rappers, and whatnot to help to change the role of the male in the black community....
remember how eating coochie wasn't cool until BET said so and a few rappers started rapping about it? yeah i'd work like that except ours would be a REAL FATHERS campaign...

Well my degree is in psychology and my specialization is in educational/school psychology. I actually want to be housed in the mostly black high school in my city. I want my students to know that i'm there for them in every aspect of their life and education. I saw in high school where so many people fell down simply b/c they didn't have encouragement or a watchful eye. Then too I want to open a community center where some of the high school students can work after school as well as get community service points. My center will also have adult education facilities, job training, and parenting classes. I will def give to areas that are lacking in my city not only money, but my time, and service.
