Don't Beat Your Kids..HAZE Them.. Posted on 05-12-2005

Ok..I'm in a debate with someone of the idea of hazing kids over beating them. I'm a firm believer that beating your kids doesn't really send them a lesson. In which you have to continually beat your kids because they will continually act up. I know plenty of times I was beaten by my pops or moms and laugh because I was still wearing my Jordan's and playing my video games.. My pops got smart and stopped trying to lay a belt on me but lay a hand on my prized possessions. I went from rocking Jordans to ocking the shoes I mowed the yard in. Super Nintendo and t.v to NOTHING..My pops wouldnt even let me watch tv with them or even when his friends were around for a football game..He forced me to stay in my room.. Hmm..It's kind of like being pledged or in the the NPHC's word, "Hazed". I will never beat my kids. I will make their lives a living HELL if they ever f*ck up..I'm sorry but pain only lasts a hour but the experience I would put you through would last forever.. My kids will know not to f*ck up..Believe me..lol

The person he got into the debate with was me, and I'll tell you now like I told you then. You're crazy and hope you never have kids.

I think it all has to do with the kid. Some kids could get past not havin possesions but don't want to get the switch just like they can laugh at a beating but cry at losing their ps2. Just like rod had said in the other post he found alternatives to getting put on punishment. I think that would work good tho, but at the same time beating works too. I like the method of having a combination of two mixed in with lecturing. When their younger whoppins are gonna occur tho. If my kids are anything like me they will respond to that, that's why I think it all matters what kind of kid your dealin with.

It's a matter of setting a norm and rewarding good behavior, while punishing bad behavior. Haze is a strong word but you do have to control the climate of your household and ensure that your children understand the expectations and acceptable parameters of your household.

I'm a firm believer in communicating with your children. When they mess up, it's the parents job to set them str8, but in a way they will understand. Hazing them is not the way to get your point across. It only shows how angry you are.

Well, I kinda agree with u, b/c my momma used to do that to me when i did something wrong (which is rarely) and now, I am still scared to death of what she might do to me! My momma is crazy.lol But she still kool as hell tho. When she used to WHOOP me I used to go back and do stupid things. Soooo...... I say that HAZING really does work and I would do that rather than beat them, but juss not too bad unless the crime was really bad.

I definitely understand what he is saying...and to be truthful, I would do tha same. There are always some kids who are immune to gettin their azzes whooped....like my nephew for instance. My sister was the same way. I would laugh at my parents because they would send me to my room, but I had a keyboard, a radio/cd player, and now I got my TV...so that wasn't no punishment!m So yes, I will probably spoil tha sh*t out of my kids and then take it all away when they act up.
