It's ridiculous...NBA level talent is NBA talent no matter what age. It's like them putting a height requirement into play.
The main reason for most of these college players is to make it in the league.
Yea I don't really agree with it either. When I first heard of it, I thought it was ridiculous and completely unfair. But after hearing some of the reasoning behind it (trying to improve the quality of play, ensuring that the old timers still have a job), it kind of made more sense. However, I still don't agree with the idea. I don't like how it basically forces aspiring NBAers to go the college route, and everyone knows that college ain't for everyone. If they can play, let 'em play.
I like it. except I think it should be for 19 instead of 20. I think if a player can go to college for one year and still is productive enough to go in the draft then it's cool. Just think about it. If Lebron went and played a year of college hoops he would of still been a first rounder, whereas if somebody like stephen jackson or rashard lewis had went they would of actually gotten more experience on the court and came into the league playing at a lot higher quality. THEN we could look at people like deshawn stevenson and kwame brown who would of went through three to four years of college, matured their game, and came into the league with less pressure, or at least able to handle the pressure better, a better game, just overall as a more mature player. People like those two would of either eventually failed at basketball or improved and been a bigger hit than now. I say they shouldn't let anyone who hasn't played a year of college ball in.

Ok but look at it this way. LeBron made the jump from HS straight to the league. He turned out to be damn good. Maybe a couple of years of college would have helped, maybe not. I don't think he really needed college. Why even waste the time when you know you have the talent?
As for Steven Jackson and the others who were less successful, they definitely could of benefited from going to college. However, thats their choice. Apparently somebody thought they had enough talent to take a chance on them, so it worked in their favor. There are alot of college grads who turned out to be busts too ya know.

I just think that one year of college will give scouts all the proof they need. If lebron had played the one year he would of proved himself easily just like carmelo did. If jermaine o'neal had played that one year he probaly would of thought about his situation more and played a year or two more in college. If your good then you can knock out the one year of college, no doubt. But this would filter out a lot of players thats not worthy of goin to the league, let alone get drafted as high as top 10.
