I'm suppose to be taking mines in June and I'm hoping that I make a good score. Its gonna be my first time. I should have started taking it in the 9th grade but I wanted to take Algebra II/Trig first. You guys?

I took the ACT and did pretty good but not good enough to me; a 23 . My goal is to get at least a 27 on my next test so I could get a scholarship to Hampton U. There isn't alot of Alg3 trig on the test so you shouldn't have to worry to much about it. Im taking Alg3 trig senior year and hope this would help me in math! Personally, I like the ACT better cus it tests you on work you do in school, the SAT really doesn't. I took it in 9th grade to try it out and i got like 1000 on it so i'll only take it again to get a higher score.

Hmmmm I diddnt like the ACT at all I thought it was the hardest test I had ever taken in my life as far as the science and english sections were concerned... they use different material than the SAT does... all my life I have always been trained to take the SAT and I just found out about the ACT at the end of my sophomore year and I decided to take it this year just to get a feel for it and I diddnt do as well as I would have liked but I absloutly love the SAT it was soo much easier to understand and I felt very confident about my performance and I wish I could say the same about the ACT but I believe everyone has a test they excell on ... some people are better taking the SAT while others are better taking the ACT so I guess it all evens out in the end ... But The SAT is real koo and easy to understand =] Every section was easy to follow and the Math and English sections were very simple ... but the ACT did not do me any justice =/ ...... I would like to get a Scholarship to Howard or Hampton also so I am aiming for their scholarships

Wow! I didn't know that some people didn't like the ACT. I guess its different strokes for different folks! Juicy Sweets, to be honest the science part was sorta hard. I think it might have been like that because I was mad hungry. (I was in there for 5 hours w/ no food break :x!!!). Next time I guess I would study the book harder.

Well they dont even give the SAT down here. Everyone takes the ACT and it works for some and doesnt for others. Like I know a boy who is smart right, got all As but he only made like a 13 on his ACT and then its this girl who never really comes to school and doesnt make real good grades and she got like a 19 or 20. It works for some. Hopefully it will work for me! lol

It probaly all depends on what you been tested on your entire life. I been takin standerdized act-like test all my life and my first time I got a 23. I took a few months later and got a 20 lol. If I new I was goin to HU I would of actually studied and took it a few more times to get a scholarship but o well. The science part is pretty hard tho, mainly because it's the end of the test. You should bring like some m&m's or some kind of small candy, because that sugar helps you out a lot at the end and in the middle of the test.

lol whaaat are you serious ?!? lol they dont give the SAT down there where you live ? I just found out about the ACT lol and I diddnt even know there was another available test ... Up here everyone takes the SAT and I guess the southern states put more emphasis on the ACT (Please correct me if I am wrong) but alot of people OUt here (westcoast) take the SAT but to me the ACT was hard ! I think its because all my life I was trained to take the SAT lol and the ACT was no where to be found but I just love the SAT it was way easier I just hope I did alright I am waiting until after finals tho to Check my scores so I wont get stressed out if I diddnt do too well

The ACT tests a lot more on how well you can apply what you have learned (what you have learned in general; not only what you've learned in school). Some high schools give people grades, but the students aren't learning. That may explain the boy getting the 13, but having straight As. Me on the otherhand, when I was in high school, I scored a 27 on the ACT. My SAT score was the equivalent- a 1250. I only had a 3.0 though and all AP and honors courses. So it really depends on how much you LEARN and not your GRADES.

Well in NYC the SAT is stressed mainly, they tell us about the ACT but don't make it mandatory. They suggest that if you are applying to schools in the south that you should take the ACT too. But i thought they were fairly not bad...the ACT is easier than the SAT. As for the SAT II's i took English,MicroBiology, and the Math II (i think thats what its called...lol!) But a lot of people took courses for the tests but i just took them...i don't see a way in studying for them. I took the SAT 3x and the ACT once. My final score on the SAT is a 1430 and my ACT score was a 34. So i mean just relax when u take it.
