this has something to do with another topic that i created...hbcuconnect, WHERE do you MAINLY think todays youth(black you esp) is getting the message that it's okay to go out and disrespect women? who glorifies this behavior? and don't say bush... there can be more than one answer :???:

I agree that alot of it does start at home, but at the same time, if there is no man in the home then the black boys have no example to look to. So of course, being that there are not many black men on TV, most of them are either athletes or rappers. You know they wanna emulate them. They think it's "cool" to disrespect women...because they've seen the way the rappers do it on TV. And until someone comes out publicly and decides to speak against it and take a stand, they will continue to believe that it is okay to disrespect women.

but celebrities especially rappers serve as role models fro young dudes who don't have a dad in thier lives... i mean yeah it should be a mentor, or a church member, but some parents would rather let that tall dude with the braids from 106 and park be the male role model in little jamal's life
