Can we just be friends? Posted on 07-17-2005
Stealth

I wanted to know what everybody thought about the age old question: Is it possible for men and women to be platonic friends? I believe that it's, of course, possible, although, two can only be so close without fallin for each other. With that being said, IMO it's impossible for a man and a woman to be BEST friends without fallin for each other. What yall think?

yup. especially folks who've known each other since they were little. i mean, sometimes those end up being the people in the longest lasting relationships, but i know after seeing my boy pick his **** a relationship just wouldn't feel right.

I honestly dont think its possible, I've had three guy best friends in my life and all three of them caught feelings for me. One I was feeling too but our trying to bring that friendship into a relationship was not working, it was weird and awkward and now we dont even speak. The only real guy friend of mines is this boy White Mike who Im sure have no feelings for me and thats how I hope it stays.

Naaaaw. I had a girl I had known almost my entire life. She knew my **** like clock work. She ended up being my first girlfriend, and as we got older she became the first girl i actually believe I loved. It's hard to not fall for a girl that makes you feel good just by being yourself around her.

It runs counter to our instincts. Most friendships are initiated on some type of attraction anyway. But honestly, in order to answer this question, you would have to define what a friend is. I have plenty of female "associates" who think they are my "friend". But they don't know my favorite color; my momma's name; my favorite sport teams; or in other words "the real me". Any woman who took the time to care about me like that on the personal level, I will more than likely end up being very fond of her and that works both ways.
