Ok, so what does and doesn't count as community service??
In my book it is anything that is does not have a self serving benefit.
Spending time tutoring youth would be community service, unless you were getting paid to do it.
If you are being financially compensated, then it makes it self serving.
I actually dont enjoy it, but its something I would keep doing like once a month because I know its important. When I originally signed up to volunteer with them I thought we would have direct interaction with the kids and working with them, but because of their illnesses The housekeeper says we arent allowed to work with the kids, and very rarely are kids even in the house because they are usually in the hospitals. Just their families are there. They just have us cleaning the house and constantly disinfecting it...and the house is SPOTLESS...lol. So unlike cleaning a dirty house and seeing your results, your cleaning a house thats already clean so you dont see the results of your work. So thats why I dont really enjoy it because I was looking forward to being with the kids and we end up cleaning for a few hours instead.
Im not sure how the Ronald McDonalds homes are in other places, but the one I volunteer at is BEAUTIFUL. It looks like a huge plantation house with lots of rooms and kitches, dining rooms, etc...which surprised me cause I didnt expect it to be as nice as it was.
But yea...thats my experience volunteering with them.
