how far have we really gone from the days of our "fathers" when the college experience was almost non-existent? as I prepare for college (FAMU), others do not. Friends have chosen that college is not for them, which is fine, while others head off the the army/navy, workforce, "the streets", or stay at home. what bothers me is the people I know who don't even attempt to go to college because it's "too hard" , they can't pay for it , it's a waste of time, or they seriously did not even think about college as an option.
I thought about bill cosby's speech months ago where he bashed low income, poverty stricken black americans. Everything he said was validated, i see it everyday. 7 year old kids with $300 outfits on but still read at below grade level. The strong slang we use all time, music videos and so on.
But cosby forgot to look in the mirror that morning of that speech. I ask him" what the hell are you doing to help?
it's easy to pick on the little guys as you look down upon them. go after the guys your own size, coward. just because you played an educated man on t.v doesn't make you one. you gained riches but you lost in the game of life by picking on the little guy. change begins within. that says nothing about you, beacuse you have nothing inside but cruel juice (my nephew always says that)listen up everyone:

you missed the point, time is money, he should spend time in those neighborhoods he talks so bad about. send money? anyone could do that. the point is to bring the upper class black community (celebs, athletes, politicians) together to solve the problem instead just being a ****. I'm not refering to us blacks going to colleges like morehouse and spellman(obviously if you made it there you got some kind of sense)i'm talking about young teens/ young adults in the ghetto in poverty stricken **** areas who seem to have to no way out. thanks for the reply

I see what your point is, but i have to disagree, though MANY professional blacks could give a damn about lees fortunate blacks, Bill Cosby is one that does go to schools and speak. He backs up his words with action. Now noone can say if he does enough, but jump on those who do nothing, not the man who does a little. A little is much more than none at all. He is one of the few that does give back in more ways than just money. His speech was very harsh, yet an eye opener. It appears that blacks as a race always voice what should happen but no actions are taken. Bill Cosby simply voiced his opinion in an effective way to stir up people. His speech was effective because he made people think. Even if they didnt agree with him, they said something. You cant change something if everyone is stagnant about it. If more wealthy blacks were like Bill Cosby the black race would be standing a little better.

I feel ya, sometimes its cool to play devils advocate. I love to argue anyway. Yeah i do agree that he downed the lower class balck community like someof them could help it, but hey whatever everyone has their own opinions
