What other orgs? Posted on 08-11-2005

Sorry in advance~ this may be a desperate attempt at a new thread. We all know that Greeks are well rounded individuals (well most of them I've met) and are affiliated with other orgs. outside of their GLO. What else are you involved/affiliated with?

 I'll indulge. Well this year it'll be my second year involved in Circle K international service org. DC needs a lot of help and Circle K does a great job of serving the community. This year I'll also be Vice President of my class (my best friend and line sister is Prez) so I'm really trying to focus 100% of my attention on making the junior class board a success. Please believe that I will be cribbing some fundraising ideas from here. I may rejoin the academic team if I have time, but I doubt I will. Maybe I'll run for something in my dorm because I do that every year. A lot of my sorors at Howard are involved with other GLOs like Phi Sigma Pi and Delta Sigma Pi, etc.

hmmmm wow. K, well alot of the stuff i do is exclusive to HU's campus so folkz would probably be like "uhhhh..what's that? :???: ". But um, what have i done?...let's see  I do alot of work in campus ministries. I'm in an org called Chapel Assistants. We assist with chapel services every sunday, put on events, do community service, and fellowship & promote spiritual growth among one another. I'm on the planning committee of an event called Wednesday Night Live. It's a held once a month (on weds) and it's a contemporary worship experience with poetry, stepping, singing, comedy skits, and other talents presented by students in the HU community. It's off the chain, and if anyone ever gets the chance, u should definately check it out. One of the charter members of the HU Rankin Chapel Gospel Choir started a couple of years back by the Dean of the chapel and Gospel great/HU alumn, Richard Smallwood. We minister at chapel services twice a month. I also travel the "urea" with a lil group called "the JC singers" and sing at local churches from time to time. last year i got involved in student government and served as Freshman Affairs Coordinator with the Howard University Student Association. Student gov. was an interesting experience. I opted out of it for the upcoming school year. Won't be holding a position, but i might volunteer with em. Dee Dee...remember this? "good job, good job. good job, good job..."(u finish it) I don't know if i'll be doing as much next year. There's the NPHC, blue & white, and an array of other things. I've done alot of juggling in the past, and i might just wanna focus alot of my attention in one area instead of spreading myself so thin. Not to mention...i'd surely like to graduate on time.

Ahh HUSA. Innovation was being so stingy with positions this year. I was on their campaign staff (I did have to quit cuz of AKA) but still, they couldn't hook a sister up? But oh well. Oh Kenya, I'm loving ur contributions to choir and Rankin and church. I'm not much of a Christian, but I think I will swing by Wednesday night live one of these days. Let me know when something big is going on.
