Looks and shallowness Posted on 10-08-2005

Do you feel that judging by looks is being shallow? Do you realize that what's unattractive to one person may be attractive to someone else? What is 'shallow' to you?

Sometimes. If you're judging whether that person is someone you want to pursue, then no, because you're being realistic about your own preferences and if you aren't attracted to someone it would be difficult to have a relationship with them. However, if you treat and act differently towards someone because of their appearance, that would be extremely shallow, because it demonstrates a lack of class and respect. Holla!

Yes.

Most definitely.

Being shallow is part of being human. The problem is when you let someone's appearance serve as their personality and their intelligence. Again, I refer to Jacqui Saburido. ANTM really gets to me when the judges start debating who to kick off when they ain't model material themselves. But that's life, I guess. Looks matter, but you have to at least try to get over it. To me, 'shallow' people are the ones who basically use face value with everyone they meet and in everything they do, like they can't even be associated with or seen socializing with '****' people. I try to be the opposite of that as much as I can, but it's hard, lol!

I am going to have to agree with NeoSoulBrotha, because like he said it is being realistic, wether you know it or not you're always judging someones apperance but the test of shallowness is if you act a different way towards a person who is physically attractive or not so physically attractive, tis shallowness..

^^^^ cosigns... A lot of times, when you make assumptions about someone based on outward appearance, they are totally different from how you htought they would be.

I agree with what he said........ and sometimes once you get to know someone that wasnt attractive to you physically you may start to be attracted to there personality or there mind.........

i don't agree with neosoul if people took the time out to really get to KNOW a person's personality looks would not be as important as people make it out to be there are a lot of **** men with nice personalities and are gentlemen same for **** women with nice personalities but it seems like everyone just wants that physical attractiveness and looks at the rest later it's extremely shallow

well...when you first see a person what grabs your attention??? for me, 9 times out of ten it's their looks...I know nothing about their personality at first glance...I notice their physical features...so of course looks play a role in me being attracted to somebody...I don't think that makes me shallow at all...
