Bad Move? Posted on 11-04-2005
KLane

At my school we (well they  ) just had a greek winter ball. Well a girl I know is dating a Omega (she wants to pledge) and she wore a purple dress to the ball. She got a lot of attention (not sure if it was b/c her dress was beautiful or disrespectful). So I'm just wondering was that a bad move or is it ok since her bf is a Omega?? Also does it make a difference that the org she wants to join isn't DST?? :-k

^^ Why would her wearing a purple dress be seen as disrespectful? What organization would she be disrespecting? I'm confused.... :???:

Sounds like this "girl" is you...If it isnt you then you wouldnt need to worry about her problems. If its you then stand up 4 if...why hide?

 It's not me. So no need to hide.(If I would have worn it, I wouldn't ask about it AFTER the fact) But you can believe whatever you like. My friend and I were talking about it, so I was just wondering what others thought about it. Really it's not like i'm worried about it or her (I wish her the best though, she's a very nice person) I JUST ASKED! It's not that serious (just found it interesting), just don't respond.

I am travelling so forgive me if I did not correctly read your OP (original post) but, did you say a Greek Winter Ball? I am just wondering with HBCU's Homecoming Season "almost" over...are you at a PWI? ( I am really not trying to insult you.) It is the internet, so I am just gathering information. Are all "9" active on your campus?...Do they all participate? Sounds ideal...Maybe your Panhellenic body sponsors this? Anyway...about that dress...was it cute? If this girl's "man" is a Que...he prolly told her to wear dat dress...or, she may wanna be a M.R.S. vs any other three letters at this time. Is her boyfriend fine, loaded, Big Brother Popular Que? These things DO matter  Oh, I go to the Kappa Ball cause my daddy and my grand dad (RIP) are Kappa's and you HAVE to wear a red or red and white gown. My hubby is an Alpha and he gladly "respects" the dress code for this annual event. But we grown and all that don't phase us much. Hubby knows too that I am my daddy's girl...he don't wont no trouble outta me bout my daddy's ball :-D Hmmm, come to think of it...you know my dad surely does not wear the Alpha colors at my hubby's Annual Ball...(stubborn NUPE Daddy...) HA!

If u wore the dress and u were in fact his date and he is a QUE then its OK. You were jus gettin the looks because the dress was cute, but since u were his date everyone understands. Now if it was a pink, green, and maybe a red dress then there would've been some problems lol.

^^ That is actually want I was thinking. So long as she was not wearing the colors of the organization that she wants to join, I do not see how she could be viewed as disrespectful. Her man is a Que so they just might have been trying to coordinate :???: It shouldn't be that serious that she is limited to wearing only black at events (and that is if there are no members of Swing Phi Swing to **** off...)
