Then they get traded or cut at any time at the descretion of whom: THEIR MASTERS; reminds me of slavery
On top of it all they work hard every night trying to win a championship while many of their white teammates sit on the bench and get paid a nice salary for nothing.

I kinda see where you're coming from, but there are a few MAJOR difference: if the athlete doesn't comply with league/team rules, he doesn't get hung and burned in the woods....he doesn't get beat to death with whips that have razor-sharp rocks on them. And most of all: the athlete can leave the game on his OWN terms and not suffer any consequences.

When you sit there and think about it thats very true. At one point in history they didn't want us on the same field,court,or ice(they still don't lol)
as them. Then after Jackie Robertson, Jesse Owens broke on to the scene its like everyone wants the black athlete to work for them.Ownership wise though is another story. These athletes make millions of dollars workin for the most part have of the year. they live i big houses, drive nice cars, how in the hell does this compare to slavery? Athletes have all the power in pro sports (with the exception of the nfl). the players can dictate where they play i.e. alonzo mourning and vince carter. why isn't anyone complaining in the white dominated sports, i dont here pro lacross players complaining about how oppressed they are, and they gotta work jobs in the off season because they aint gettin paid nowhere near NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and nascar. so please shut that Sh*t up, athletes are not slaves.

Actually when white players do something wrong (especially in hockey, a predominantly white sport) their punishment is not as harsh. For example hockey players fight all the time they just get fined and a one - five game suspension; but when T.O fought he got fired, when Ron Artest fought he got an indefinate suspension so no the punishments are not equal. Then in basketball a predominantly black sport most of the STARS are black on most teams at least 3-4 of the starting 5 are black and black players play more than white players (that is good) but some white players sit on the bench for pretty much the whole season and they make a very livable salary, for doing practically nothing.

fighting is part of hockey, no one gets suspended or fined in hockey when there is a fight. you get 5 minutes in the penalty box. that includes the black players, and yes there are black professional hockey players. i have yet to see a hockey player skate into the stands and start whoopin ****. u cannot compare a hockey fight to what ron artest did. and there are also a hell of a lot of black players that sit on the bench for the whole season and make that same livable salary. hell maybe im just a little niave.

If you think that professional athletes are slaves, I'd like to know what you think of people who work for the government, private companies, etc. I can see where you're coming from, but in all honesty, athletes are just like everyone else...using their skills to get a paycheck (a pretty hefty on at that). At any job (unless you are self-employed) you will have someone in a higher position to answer to. Your boss DOES NOT equal your master. If you are intending to point out the racial indifferences in professional sports, then there's no argument here (I believe there are racial indifferences in most places of employment). But, I think that comparing black athletes to slaves is digging a little too deep.
