Bottom line... before you are an aspirant/greek/whatever you need to be a person who cherishes integrity first. Personally, I think if you made an obligation to your friend way before the person in ABC asked then you need to honor it especially since they have helped you in the past. This just means that you have to get on your grind that much more with person in ABC. You shouldn't have to diss your friend to become greek. It's not about that.

As you may or may not know Greek Life at FAMU somehow becomes intertwined into every other part of the school. And this is DEF. the case with Ms. FAMU elections. Although elections are not until Feb. each prospective candidate is forming their "ILLEGAL" 8) teams. One of the candidates is a member of ABC; which also happens to be the BGLO that I am interested in. Another candidate is a member of XYZ, and as of right now she is the top choice. The last candidate is popular BUT she isn't greek. And LORD KNOWS when the last time a non-greek won. The situation is the non-greek asked me a LONG time ago (B4 I knew the other two were running) to help her with her campaign and since she helped me with my campaign for freshman attendant I thought it was only right. NOW the member of ABC is asking me to help her and I KNOW that could really help me in terms of getting to know other members. :-D Some people have told me to get on team with the member of ABC since that is what I want to be and that is what everyone else has ALWAYS done. Would it be wrong to get off my Non-greek friends team to get on the member of ABC? :???: Also, I have a friend who already is a member of ABC's team (because she knows and likes her more) EVEN THOUGH she wants to be XYZ, this is considered GREEK **** , do you think I should tell her to switch teams so she won't MESS HER SELF UP before it's too late...PLEASE HELP ME!!! :o :o :o :o
Damn yo. I need to transfer to FAMU  Lets see what I would do. Does your popular but non-Greek friend know that you're interested in ABC? If she does, maybe she'll understand why it's imperative for you to help ABC with her campaign. Oh yeah, and tell your other friend that maybe she should be supporting XYZ and she needs to utilize more common sense in the future. I always say Do What You've Got to Do to Get It Done. People break promises all the time, and while it **** that you can't help your friend a) if she's a true friend she'll understand and b) if you stop talking to her the day after the election, it'll kinda be a waste. Point blank: Prioritize. Sacrifice. Do What You've Got to Do to Get It Done.

Hey J, I suggest you just tell your friend nevermind, and go help the girl thats part of the soroity you want to be apart of. But most of all do what u want and feel. If I was you, I wouldn't be on anybody's campaign team. Just so I don't have to deal with the mess. But don't help out this girl jus becuase u want to be part of her soroity, do it cuz u want to. Because suckin up, and tryin to get brownie points aint gonna get u in.

THANKS GUYS! :-D I REALLY appreciate the advice, I think I have made my decision. But just to answer a few questions...
Quote:
Does your popular but non-Greek friend know that you're interested in ABC?
I really don't know WHO knows, I am figuring that NOT many upperclassmen can tell Because I am the type that talks to and hangs with EVERYONE. But a lot of freshman have assumed because my mentor happens to be greek, so when they see me with her they assume that her org is the one I want 2 be in.

Does the sorority girl know that you are already obligated to the other candidate?
I don't think she does but THESE days you NEVER know... And I guess this question would be hard to answer since you guys except for "Pwr2AllPeople" (B U R FUNNY!) don't go to FAMU so u don't understand how TOUCHY this subject is. But I appreciate ALL of your comments and replys, they have really helped me and made me think!

Me: I wouldn't mind if you helped your friend since you made a prior committment. My LS: You would never get her vote. It all depends on the member. Unfortunately, some persons are just that fickle. So the answer lies with you. One thing is true though: You will have to not only make decisions that impact a moment, but also decisions that will affect the future. On the one hand, people will see your loyalty as a good thing. Additionally, your integrity will remain intact should you stay with your friend. On the other hand, how badly do you want this organization? Sometimes in your quest, you might be asked to do something that you won't like or won't normally do. It's always going to be your choice, but as always, with choices come consequences, good or bad. That's life. My advice to you would be to look at each option and come up with the worst (realistic) case scenario for each. Make your decision from there. Good luck. PS. If it's my SOROR who asked you to help her, do it J/K...kind of

Being that I attend FAMU, I understand your post exactly. I feel that since you are a freshman, it won't matter AS MUCH who you help campaign. But by helping the woman who is apart of the sorority you wish to join, you can meet others and mingle with them. Just remember that you don't HAVE to vote for the person you help campaign. But, I don't know... You are definitely in a bind. What if you didn't help anyone? You don't have to be on a campaign team. Being on the woman in ABC's campaign team may be too blatant and indiscrete, so I suggest you proceed with caution.
