let me be the first to say that
blacks being christains is an ultimate slap to the ancestors who had it forced upon them
blacks accepting something that was forced on their ancestors is beyond me
chrsitainity was NOT anything your ancestors practiced
it was FORCED on them
they had to accept that white religion and shun and forget their own
and u have present blacks actually voluntary chrsitains?
how backwards is THAT?
i don't care what color jesus was
the religion isn't real
nor it should be anything blacks willingly accept
talk about disrespect

what's the issue against christianity?.....it clearly states that Jesus was a man of color in the bible.
Yes it does but before Jesus came along there was no such religion as Christianity; that religion was "supposedly" made after his death to worship the savior. Jesus was a Hebrew.
For the longest I called myself a Christian because that is the religion that was instilled in me since I was young. I think that happens a lot, especially in the black community. Many don't know a thing about Christianity. They're just "christians" by name I guess.
For Christians, I pose the questions:
Why do you call yourself a Christian?
What is a Christian to you and according to history?
ha ha I KNEW this would end up on HBCU after I saw this on ur xanga lol...
well as for me...I dont go around PROCLAIMING I'm a Christian unless I'm walking the walk and talking the talk...otherwise I wouldnt bother...saying you're a "Christian" means nothing anymore...and that's sad...good topic though!

it can't be denied christianity was forced on our people as other peoples around the world...it's unfortunate that some people don't take the time to explore and learn about their denomination and Christianity as a whole...i quite firmly believe that religion is only a formal way of praising God...if more people studied in depth they might find themselves strenghtened in their faiths or wanting another one that will give them that strength...i was baptized a catholic when i was younger, but i made the committment and was confirmed in my faith (an actual sacrament) last year...my parish makes it a requirement that youth study catholicism for a period of two years before they make the sacrament...a bit excessive to some people but it wasn't for me...im still learning and i will continue to learn...it's important for all of us to continue to be students of God...no matter what religion our religion...and let me leave u with a quote from a Vatican document:
"For we have in our hearts a law written by God. To obey
it is the very dignity of the human person; according to it we
will be judged." (Vatican II Documents: Gaudium et spes).
follow your heart and the true judgement God gave you. period.
