with pads, you're sitting on your own stank mess for hours on end.
and with tampons, you're keepin the mess in your lady hole for hours on end.
it's a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils.
on another note, they have all kinds of nasty alternatives to pads and tampons.
like i was in the feminine care aisle one day, you know they got cups that you stick up there like tampons? cups!?!?!? that's quite nasty. also they have RECYCLABLE PADS. you use them, and throw them in the washing machine, and they're good for 1-2 YEARS. sorry, that seems like that weird Sh*t that only white people would do.
Hey dont hate on the "cups" until you try them! There called Instead and they are the ish, i love it! Its expensive but really good. Its like a diaphram (sp) but its healthier and safer than tampons. Recyclable pads do sound yucky but hey thats what they use in the poorer countries or places without pads.

i thought the cups looked kinda odd, but since yalll are sayin good things, i might try em. o, and i wasn't even thinkin about poorer countries havin recyclable pads; i first heard about them from some crazy vegan environmentalist website based in Oregon, i thought it was just a crazy white people thing, LoL
