NAACP Burying the N word?

I agree. But , please keep in mind that some could argue, why so soon. This whole discussion about the N word has been on the table for some time now. i do not feel like the NAACP has done a great job in the past about addressing this issue and trying to implement action - even if the action's consquence will only be adorned as symbolic. I believe that the NAACP was misguided about what sequence the issues should be addressed in. They are finally understanding the the "N WORD" debate is the pandora's box and the very significant beginning stage of addressing every african american social issue in this country. issues that we have with our government and other cultural groups (from the misappropriation of tax dollars in the united states to send OUR men to war, the [still] UNEQUAL quality and value education within primarily African American communties versus "white" communities,etc.) AS WELL AS the problems that we have within our own community ( the blatant disrespect of women on a DAILY basis, our black men going to war and or JAIL, black finances, unemployment, the overall disparity of wealth within our own community, our percsception of light skin vs dark skin) will all be on the road to a solution when we , as a people, decide to speak about this issue and embrace ourselves. only, then, will other people embrace us.

True, also other issues that need to be addressed are ****, mental health, **** in the communities, educating children of our history to understand where we came from, the family unit and revitalizing our communties. It would be nice that other people will embrace us when we get our act together, but they will find other things to pick. It could be jealousy, greed , envy, malice, or anything else that are coming out of the hearts of ignorant or self-hating individuals who are mad at the world and look to pick on others. I don't know. I've been kind of in the middle on this issue. One one hand, I do agree that there are other issues that the NAACP can take issue with, much more worthy issues. However, I'm guessing it is a symbolic act, to bury the N word. It may not help so much with our age/generation (21-30), but maybe for the younger generation, it would hold more credence. At least I'm assuming that's the idea. In order to change the views and ideas, you have to teach it to the babies. The older ones are pretty much a lost cause, which is why I say it probably won't make much difference for older folks, but for the young young people it may do some good.

I just hope it will.
