According to TrendHunter Magazine:
A Nashville nightclub has introduced brand specific dress codes.
The sign outside the club displays a list of unacceptable brands, including: Southpole, Ecko, Enyce, Sean John, Phat Farm, etc.
The brand specific dress code is creating controversy both because it discriminates against style and because the brands chosen suggest racial profiling.
One shopkeeper described, “You see black people wearing more of these type of clothes. I have it on now. I think he pointed his finger toward black people (talking about) the grills and the Sean Jean. I think he’s talking about more black people.”
Do you think this is racial profiling?
Why of course that was racial profiling, because why didn't they mention a white line of clothing like Justin Timberlake's line of clothing? Oh, I forgot he's be n**ga too (spoken in slavery dialect!) LOL Anyway, they are saying in other words that they want a certain type of clientele to walk through their doors which is understandable. Yet, I don't see anything wrong with Sean John. Anyway, by them establishing a dress code that will keep the riff raff out of there. Thugs like to go where they can wear their sneaks and pants sagging, so you don't have to worry about that type of crowd frequenting that club! LOL I like to go to places that have a dress code because you can get an ideal of what type of crowd to expect. Anyway, that is just my thoughts though.
yea me neither , but like my granny says you can the n***a out the hood but u can't take hood out then***a , so let them make this rule i guess it's one of their sneaky ways of saying black people can't come , but has that stopped us before? no!
i agree most of my "designer" stuff i get on sale but i guess that because im a bargain shopper im not really in to just the big names i like all clothing
The only brand that I think I'm most loyal to is Nike, I have about 5-6 pairs and I have to match brands. I can't wear Nike shoes, a Reebok shirt and Adidas hat. We call that being a "bama" where I'm from. Other than in that case, brand doesn't matter to me. Price matters, why spend $50 on a T-shirt when I can buy one for 20% of that price? I'm not willing to pay that much only for everybody to see whose brand I'm wearing. I'm sure if the brand names were inconspicuous, you could get away with wearing them to that establishment.
They don't have LRG, Coogi, Polo, Bape, or Jordan up there so I am good money. Truth is, Urban Profiling and Middle to Lower Class profiling. All those brands listed are quite affordable and quite fashionable compared to the others out here. But hey, if the owner wants to turn away money, thats his business.
i dont know how I feel about this one. I mean not all the clothes on the Baby Phat, Ecko, and Phat Pharm lines are hood lookin. They actually have some nice classy pieces. And, Sean John? You've got to be kidding me. I thought Sean John was a nice upperclass look being that he has lines of suits and whatnot. **** im not about to hit the club wit no prom dress but...idunno. yeah, it is a lil messed up how they didnt include them ritzy white lines tho
