I thought about it.. but I don't necessarily fall into the "financial needs" category. and then i saw all those "short answers" on the application...and the referral this and recommendation that... so i decided against it. But i did apply for the Ron Brown scholarship

I would suggest that you let them disqualify you, and not you disqualify yourself.

I'm tryin to tell ya'll! Apply!! I didn't think I'd get a certain internship when I applied for it. I got it and was the only black person and only one from an HBCU that received it. Call me "token" if you want, but it paid for my books and more my senior year!

Well I'm none of the things that you listed. But I am pretty awesome if I must say so myself. Yeah. I have heard that Ron Brown is the most prestigious of African American Scholarships. But Like i said earlier... GMS ain't for me. Now I may be old and gray one day and say i shoulda coulda woulda...but I'll take my chances.

I "shoulda coulda woulda" fight you for not applying.

LOL!! Have you seen that beast of an application... It's bad enough I had to write essays, and personal statements, and all this crap for college apps...now you say apply for something else!

I saw it a couple years ago when my younger brother tried for it. (He didn't get it) You think you're the only one that thinks it's a hard application?! Everyone applies to the "no essay"/"no thought" scholarships which makes it harder for you to get, you REALLY have to stand out. Only the dedicated ones will apply and receive the GMS. If the app is online, I'll take another look at it tomorrow.
