Here's a situation...Say you were a graduate of the prestigious HBCU known as Claflin University. (That's hard to come by so ya'll can just "imagine" doing so ) Anywho, say you graduated from Claflin and you moved to DC. While there you decide that you want to buy a Howard University T-shirt. You haven't taken any courses there, you know a few people(non-family) who went there, so you're basically buying it for GP. Would you be considered a traitor to your alma mater, Claflin, for buying the Howard shirt? Or is it all "Kool & The Gang"?Would you ever wear your rivals' paraphernalia? :o ie Wear a Howard shirt, but went to Hampton! Along that same line, whose 'nalia wouldn't you wear? Be specific. I wanna know who doesn't like who! lol
No, you would not be a "traitor" but why would one wear a school's shirt that they didnt attend? But when it comes to Howard University, I'm pretty sure folks are just dying to have HU across their chest
I know one thing is for sure, you will never, ever, ever, ever, ever see me in a Hampton University shirt....EVER! I dont get down like dat...
Bill cosby does it all the time ... so do celebrities ... wearing HBCU gear to help promote HBCUs, regardless.
That's how I feel about it too but...BUT, you won't catch me in a Benedict College or Voorhees College t-shirt. Depending on how I feel I MIGHT wear an SC State t-shirt...only because Claflin started SCSU!

The best way to promote an HBCU is to actually go to one and provide first hand experience and knowledge whenever needed. Anybody can wear a T-shirt and honestly, that doesnt impress me.
Bill Cosby has three degrees...all from PWC's. If he REALLY cared about promoting HBCU's, then he would have went to one.
I went to Hampton for a hot SECOND...and you will NEVER catch me in a Howard Shirt...unless someone pays me MILLIONS to wear it..other than that, any other HBCU, heck yea, I'll rock it if I just happen to live in that area or if I visited the school and got it as a souvenir...
I'm gonna be rockin' my Hampton gear until the day I die. **** I couldn't actually afford it until after I graduated... all you HU people know what I mean You wouldn't catch me in a Howard or NSU shirt if I was standing outside of Chicago in December buck ****.It's the principle of the thing... there's principalities involved here man!
... How about this
Do How about wearing NON Black College gear on campus
such as a person who attends NCA&T wearing a NCU Tar Heels Jersey
Just dont make any sense ..lol
I wouldn't say that about Bill Cosby. He donated more loot to the HBCUs, esp Spelman, than he could if he attended one (*i.e. my small donation when the school "misplaced" my paperwork to get my room damage deposit back*).
He has given millions to the HBCUs and that is unfortunately more than what I can give. Let's face it, the existence of the HBCUs, and possibly any school for that matter, relies on its finances. If you have loot, you can attract students, afford better teachers, afford better facilities, etc. Take someone who donates all this money, and that's one less thing (*or quite a few less things*) they have to worry about when it comes to ... how are we gonna pay for this, how are we going to pay for that.
Please excuse my bad sentence and paragraph structure.
