I cant decide which school. Which University is better? What were some of your personal experiences? Why do you like either school?

Depends on what you want from the school. I've visited both and they are very prestigious HBCU's. I personally want to go to Howard because it turns out the highest percentage of African-American doctors in the U.S. I have my heart set on becoming a cardiologist.

well what do u prefer the city or a small town also hampton is a more traditional environment and you are kinda restricted in aspects such as greek life parties , student press I know two girls from my high school who attend hampton and they love it personally i can not deal with not having a car until junior year and plus im more of a city girl howard however is in the ghetto they are both good schools it does depend on your major and what u like how far from home do you want to be ? consider some of those factors

What do you want to major in? I am a Hampton alumnus, and loved my experience there. Most of your professors will know you personally, there's plenty of opportunities to make friends and find your "fit", and there is a strong professional network of Hampton alumni (the same can also be said about Howard). So it depends on what's really important to you, and you making the most of your college life. Hampton is a slightly more conservative atmosphere, but many people come to appreciate that. The academic programs at both universities are excellent. Hampton has a smaller, more cohesive environment, and a beautiful waterfront campus (also 30 minutes from Virginia Beach). Howard has the benefit of being in a major city with access to entertainment and culture. So it's a personal decision. Feel free to holla at me with any questions you may have!

LOL! Woahitsashley123, I was apart of the marching band, newspaper staff, yearbook staff and I was a Resident Assistant. I loved every minute of Howard University and I met so many people from various backgrounds. It was a totally new and interesting experience for me. But it is important for you to research, talk to students and alumni, visit/tour and see what each school has to offer. HOWARD UNIVERSITY!

I agree with Truth: visit each campus. Deciding which school is the right fit for you is important. Check out: The Campus Visit Best of luck.
