The Howard University "Showtime" Marching Band has scholarships available for all interested musicians.
Scholarships are given based on skill level and playing ability and vary in amount. Students of all classifications may receive a marching band scholarship, however, preference is given to first time in college freshmen.
Band scholarships are reserved for wind and percussion players only. Auxilary members (Ooh La La! Dancers and Flashy Flag Squad) DO NOT receive scholarships.
Interested individuals can post their inquiries in this forum or PM me. All young ladies interested in try-out information should contact the Director of Bands at Howard University, Mr. John Newson, at 202-806-5241.

Mr. Newsome is hilarious. I had a good chat with him when I went up to D.C. in November. He and Mr. Washington were really pushing me to send in a tape of me playing b/c they said I could get a decent amount of money if I played in concert band since I want to pursue dancing. I'm still thinking about it, and now it seems like the wise thing to do.
