According to the SACS website (Southern Association of Colleges & Schools) FAMU is accredited but they're on probation. Commission on Colleges

there were some financial problems but President Ammons came and has worked to fix the problem. FAMU will retain their acredidation (or i wouldn't be going) and the future looks bright.

you're right. FAMU is on probation. However the problem has been fixed. SACS just has to come visit and review records to fully clear FAMU. I think they come in early 2009.

They never lost Accredidation its time to get the facts straight..they were put on probation on april of 2007 because of incompetence in leadership, and qualified financial audits...the former president CAstell v. Bryant eventually resigned from her post on May 2007..the newly elected president took his post on July 2007 the sacs came to visit in November, but FAMU failed to meet a deadline to submit all their documents which included the first clean audit in three years, this was the only reason why sacs extended the probation period to june 2008, and it looks like all of famu problems will be taken care off currently the task force said that famu is 92% complete with ridding most of its problems Rattler Nation
