I actually have two that I love and are my favorites. First is Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston the imagery is awesome, and second is Redemption Song by Beatrice Berry this book drew me in and made me feel like I was in the book. James Baldwin is a great author and I tend to be drawn more to older works because they have a different feel and tone.

I've got two. The Color of Water by James McBride and Kindred by Octavia Butler--She's my literary heroine of sci-fi!

Have you read Copper Sun by Sharon M. Draper? If you haven't, you should, it's an excellent read.

Coldest Winter Ever gave me doubts when i first started reading it... but it was actually pretty good. I wonder when they're ever gonna make the movie... & anyway-- ima big walter mosely fan myself. Blue Light is good, and so is Fortunate Son. what i absolutely love tho is Black poetry. If you never read I Am The Darker Brother (the collection of poems) GET IT! it has all the classics
