Okay. So I applied early notification for Spelman and I didn't get in. HOWEVER, my application was put into the regular application pool for reconsideration. I am like freaking out because Spelman is my first, second, and errr my third college choice!!!!! Just out of curiosity, has this happened to anyone else who has applied to Spelman? And if so how did/ how are you handling it?
When times get tough, and I get tired, I won’t back up, back off, back down, back out or backslide. I keep moving forward by God’s grace because I’m Spirit-led, purpose-driven and mission-focused. I will not be compromised and I cannot QUIT!
What did your application look like?
and what did you discuss in your essay?
my friend got into Spelman, I'm applying regular decision.
i'm curious...if you don't mind telling, what were your stats(gpa, SAT etc)

what did the letter they sent you say exactly??..
i recieved something kinda similair to that from Howard University..
curious!!!
GPA: 3.62
SAT: Verbal-590 Math-540
I don’t have too many extra-curricular activities, mainly because I work at least 32 hours a week. I am an intern at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, and I have been there for the last two years. When I'm not working I am either in church or mentoring my three girls (ages 15, 13, and 9). I am involved in a few clubs at school, but I chose not to over-work myself this year.
In my essay I did discuss how I fell in love with Spelman, why it is my first college choice, and I talked also talked about the things I felt I had to offer Spelman, and what I believed they could offer me.
The letter just said they needed more information before making a final admissions decision (i.e. additional letters of recommendation, SAT scores, ACT scores, and first semester senior grades).

IDK, maybe it was the essay.
From what you just explained, it does not sound like you answered the prompt. . .
It was suggested. What did your letter from Howard say?
That was a general explanation. But, I elaborated on my internship and the various things I'm involved in within my community(i.e. mentorship program, various church activities and community outreach programs).I spoke on how passionate I was about each activity in which I am involved in. I spoke on how I've learned significant lessons from each of these activities. I also talked about how most of my knowledge comes from outside of the classroom and how I would bring with me to Spelman a willingness to learn more as well as a charitable spirit, since Spelman is big on lifting up and giving back.
I'm not quite sure what type of explanation you're looking for ashgilly, but I hope this answered your question. If not, then sorry. Good luck on your application and I hope everything goes smoothly for you once you apply.

the letter said that my application was referred to the admission committe for futher review.and that they recgonize this pending status may not be the most comforting, but I should keep in mind that a large number of applicants from this group are eventually offered admission.. if you have any recent academic achievements such as new test scores or a higher gpa you are encouraged to sumbit them...
i didn't type all of it..these were the main points
