HEY GUYS I HAVEN'T BEEN ON IN SO LONG BUT LET ME UPDATE YOU ON MY LIFE
I WONT BE ATTENDING ANY OF MY DREAM SCHOOLS BECAUSE MY FATHER WHO I'VE NEVER LIVED WITH FEELS IM NOT READY TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF...(THINKIN TO MYSELF:WTF HOW DARE YOU NEGRO)
I WILL BE ATTENDING BROWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE WHICH IS BASICALLY HIGH SCHOOL PART 2...NOW THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUT THIS ONE HAD A BAD NAME BEFORE I EVEN STARTED HIGH SCHOOL
a. STUDENTS WHO HAVE GRADUATED THE SAME YEAR I WAS A FRESHMEN STILL ATTEND
b. IT'S THE BACK SCHOOL FOR YOUR BACK UP SCHOOL
c. I'VE NEVER MEET ANYONE PROUD OF THAT SCHOOL
THE ONE THING IM AFRAID THAT MAY HAPPEN IS THAT I NEVER LEAVE BROWARD COUNTY..BECAUSE EVERYONE I KNOW UNDERSTANDS THAT THEY WOULD PREFER TO GO ANY OTHER COMMUNITY COLLEGE THAN TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THE BCC CYCLE.WHERE NO MATTER HOW OLD YOU GET YOU STILL FIND YOURSELF HANGING OUT WITH THE SAME PEOPLE IN THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD DURING THE SAME THINGS YOU ALWAYS DID.
BUT DONT WORRY IN TWO YEARS ILL BE AT THE COLLEGE OF MY CHOICE.
I WAS AVOIDING THIS SITE BECAUSE IT BOTHERS ME ALOT THAT I CAN'T BE EXCITED LIKE YOU GUYS ABOUT COLLEGE OR EVEN SENIOR YEAR
BUT I WISH EVERYONE THE BEST , I HOPE YALL GOT INTO THE COLLEGES OF YOUR CHOICE AND ENJOY YALL SENIOR YEAR.

That's ridiculous!
I'm pretty sure that there are thousands of students who aren't officially ready to leave the nest, but it is something that must be experienced to completely know.
No disrespect to your Dad, but he needs some guidance.
He sounds like someone of ignorance and uneducated to try and hold you back like that...
Don't feel disrespected, I have people in my family that's the same way.
But you must move away to make a way...

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.
No disrespect to your father but it sounds like he doesn't want to let you grow up. College is the place where you test your ability to take care of yourself. Yeah you're in college but there are forms of supervision in place, so you're not "all" on your own. He should be more worried about you AFTER college rather than while you're in it. This kind of relates to the thread "I Knew Was Grown When...", use this as a time to realize that you are growing and make the best of the situation. Show and prove to your father that you are able to take care of yourself by excelling at a community college and that you can take care of yourself outside of school.
Is he demanding that you HAVE TO go to BCC? If not, try a different CC. If you do end up attending BCC, you don't have to become a part of the cycle. You're smarter than that, you have your eyes on a bigger prize than others that are there.
Nevertheless, I'm glad to see you right back like you left somethin!
thanks guys...im glad im back too...right now im trying to look on the bright side and im sure it will all work out ...but for now let me jump back into a few conversations
girl i feel the same way!my parents are like "if u don't get into your top school and you get into other out of state schools then u might as well stay in state before moving onto those schools"ridiculous!i mean i wasn't accepted into howard(last day app:no fee money at the time) and i'm waiting on spelman but theres a chance i may not get in due to all the applicants. i've gotten into other out of state schools but they(my rents) r really trippin right now!community college isn't bad but all of us with our heads moving forward and not wanting to go to 13th grade aren't so thrilled over that choice.I hope your dad decides to change his mind because graduating from highschool is basically the next step in your adulthood and he should let you be on your own
