Recently I attended a meeting for reparations which actually happened to be a meeting to promote the African Peoples Socialist Party. They were proclaiming that the African American middle class had sold out to the white man and many of our historic leaders were frauds such as Martin Luther King, Jr and Nelson Mandela. They also were proclaiming that our HBCUs were brain washing so that we could as a whole be subverted into second class citizens. Although I do agree that many of our African resources and ideals were stolen and given credit to Europeans, I do not believe that socialism is the way. I do not believe that the middle class has sold out, but instead, embraced the opportunity given to us. I think that this is another Party that blames others for the problems that we have today and does not look at the solutions available to us to improve our economic and social condition. I think that they are wanna be Malcolm X's who are out of their time and do not see the picture clearly. To my HBCU brothers and sisters what do you think?
Well you know what I think... we just spoke about it...
Anyways, no the upper middle class has not sold out. Excuse me for enjoying what my family EARNS. I'm going to get a lot of flack for this, but I care not... That's what the problem is with our race. Anytime someone is either A) Doing good B)Has a contradicting idea or C)Thinks that a situation is okay they are either sellouts or white wannabes...
Can we grow up please!
of course the middle class sold out, thats what the middle class does. Historically, as you move up the later you forget about those below you, nothing wrong with it, just the way things are. You just got to realize that someone calling you a sellout means nothing. Grow beyond simple name calling. Doesnt accomplish anything. Africans socialist party LOL cause the first thing you want in a socialist society is to divide everyone based on ancestory LOL!
As far as socialism goes... it's a good theory, but so long as any country remains capitalistic in nature, it is a null point. You can't have a socialist country surrounded by capitalists... it won't work.
Not true Slim, at one time the state of Pennslyania was socialist internally but conducted all interstate commerce as a capitalist state. It continued like that in most areas until the industrial revolution. Its possible, but it wont happen anytime soon.
