What are your views of non pan-hell organizations? Posted on 05-18-2004

I just crossed into Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Inc. (its a music fraternity for those who don't know) this past semester. I know how the atmosphere is in the AUC in regards to non-panhellinic organizations but how are they looked upon at other schools? Also what are your thoughts on being in mulitple fraternities. I know alot of my bruhs are both Sinfonians and part of other organizations as well including KKPsi and various pan-hells. Me personally i'm still interested in one particular organization but I don't think I'll pledge undergrad again. What are some of your thoughts?

Some folks like to hate on non pan-hells. I guess it depends on what school you at. I know at Howard folks just leave us alone, because simply they dont know anything about us. Folks just know us as "that band frat". Pan-hell Greeks show us love though, especially when we probated for the first time on the yard since '96. But...the service orgs., A Phi Q and Gamma Sigma Sigma......from what I've seen they get hated on relentlessly. I got love for em though.

As for the AUC the climate between us is getting better. My line was the first line to probate on the yard for 3 years and there were was at least a good 150-200 people there (really couldn't tell I was blind and on a serious adrenaline rush). Plus we started late so alot of people left before we got there. There were a lot of folk who were PH who i did not know any of us who would come up and congratulate afterwards anyway which was mad cool. Plus the first house party we had MAD females came through so that was a plus too lol. I just have this feeling that at other HBCU's that do not have big band's or music dept.s that aren't looked to highly upon. Just out of curiosity if the opt. presented it self would you do something else undergrad?

Yeh we do. some people say KK Psi should throw theirs vertical and us, PBS, horizontal. But I know I, and most of my brothers throw it up any whichaway. And the same for KK Psi. So yeh, it's the same sh*t.

people laugh at the Alpha Phi Omega's on our campus, but only because they are the lames that got denied from everything else, so they decided to bring back an extinct org on our campus.

The KKPsi/PBS hand sign situation is funny to me. I know up north, Psi throws up the two fingers with the thumb while the Sigmas just thow up the two fingers (which is the same sign as TBS  ). In the south, its the complete reverse with Psi and Sigmas. I came back home to ATL and saw some bruhs throwin up what I thought was the Sigmas sign and was like "huh!?!". Ya learn somethin new errday huh? Shouts out to the Sigmas.
