Kappas at Howard coming Back!!!! Posted on 06-03-2004

There has been a buzz on campus about the kappas coming back on yard. It all stems from the lawsuit being thrown out and the fraternity having no reason to still bar the chapter. I went to the Kappa Koolout trying to meet an greet as many as possible but there are not many left period in the D.C area that pledged at Howard. Anyway I called student activities and asked if they were coming back and they were like NO with a quick response. BUTTTTTT.....the same thing happened at FAMU in 2001 when they were suspended and I called to see if there were going to be back that next year and they were like no. As we all know they came back that following year so what do yall think. If anybody has any incite let us know because they're are many who want to reach the diamond in the sky at the Mecca..... Lastly, I talked to an old school kappa who knows the attorney in the case and all he told me was you might want to start saving your money...

I have never once on the board ever said I was a KAPPA.....that has never came out my mouth...people just assumed because of the name...Kappa is not just Kappa ALpha Psi...and I hope you all know that....You have Kappa Kappa Kappa....Phi Beta Kappa and so on and so forth. Yes I am an inspiring nupe and I would have had it by now if I didnt bounce around from school to school...but thats all going to change...

when you say "we" people are thinking that you are responding on behalf of your organization...but its good to see you've clarified things...but posting under Kappa and speaking of being "an aspiring nupe" is still not wise. But its the internet...being fairly anonymous saves us all.

On some real stuff if you were truly honest with us and yourself you know you were wrong from the start. Now if you didn't... then i think you need reevaluate what you are about to join because your perspective is twisted. Neway all i'm saying is that you should have had enough common sense to realize that coming onto a board geared for HBCU's and the Greek Fam forum at that with a S/N like "Kappanup" that people would assume u're a Kappa. yeah its the internet but personally if I was a member of KAPsi i'd be offended that somebody came on perping even if it was "unintentional."

As far as the lawsuit goes, to my knowledge the decision or the lawsuit was thrown out. The nationwide ban was for about 4 or 5 years and the lawsuit was almost 10 years ago. FAMU Kappas had a line in 2000 when the ban was lifted. I agree that you shouldn't try to claim an organization that you want to be in unless you are in the organization. I understand that you have your own opinion regarding the situation, but you have to rationalize what is best for you. In the event you do make the line, its more of them than it is of you so dont be on the line claiming that organization if you haven't made. Regardles of how many you may know or how many connections you have, it is no guarantee that you will make the line or cross the sands if you make the line. This comes from someone who is also apiring to be greek. Just be careful and cautious about how you approach the situation
