I WILL BE A FRESHMEN IN COLLEGE NEXT FALL AND A FRIEND AND I ARE PLANNING ON GOING TO THE COLLEGE. I WAS WONDERING IS IT BETTER TO ROOM WITH SOMEONE YOU KNOW OR SOMEONE YOU DO NOT KNOW. WHAT DO YALL THINK ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF THAT? MY AUNT TOLD ME THAT IT MIGHT NOT BE A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE YOU GO TO COLLEGE TO MEET NEW PEOPLE AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS. I SEE WHERE SHE IS COMING FROM, BUT I HEAR AND CAN SEE FROM SOME OF YALLS POST THAT STRANGER ROOMMATES CAN BE TROUBLE.
I would say room with someone you don't know. You are liable to fall out with a roomate especially if you know them. Me and my girls stay in two totatly different dorms which is better because we are together all of the time. If we didn't get that "aalone time" we probably couldn't stand each other now.
My best friend came for Hampton's sorry **** homecoming from Grambling and her coming made me realize that us not being together so much is for the better. She's my dog but sometimes she can work a nerve.

Sorry, I really had to emphasize that. One of my good friends roomed with someone that she knew and they had a HUGE falling out in the beginning of the semester. She ended up moving out. It was horrible. They still can't stand each other. Not to say you two will end up hating each other, but it can and does happen.
It is better to room with someone you don't know, but you never know if that stranger in your room is sane. Friend or stranger, everybody has a chance to trip out on you. So, you gotta make the choice.
i say room with someone u dont kno. u might b friends now but that person might begin to get on ur nerves. plus its better to have someone u dont kno because when they make a friend, u may make a friend and when the person u kno becomes friends with her roomate, then u might make another friend. the idea is the more people u kno in college, the better. just a thought
