GHETTO EXPERIENCES!!!

I stay in Los Angeles (yes, South Central, to be exact), and today I found myself in a NIX Check Cashing office trying to cash a check. Here's what I saw: >>A horribly long line of low income blacks complaining about the heat and stuffines odf the relativley small building. >>A crackhead (of all people) cashing a check for hundreds of dollars and tehn gleefully skipping out of the building with a jubilent smile (wonder were the money was going?)! >>Very deplorable furniture and age old decorations (the place still has damage from the 1992 riots!!!). >>Good 'ole African American customer service (service with a FROWN!!)! >>Bullet-proof glass, of course! >> And lastly, that odd smell of inner city fried chicken! Please...fell free to comment or share some of your run-ins with your city's ghetto! *DISCLAIMER* I do live in South Central Los Angeles, and have lived here ALL of my life, so I feel no harm in commenting on the ridiculous sightings that I encounter throughout my everyday life here. I am in no way attempting to discredit or belittle blacks, I am merely pointing out cases in which I have had to detach myself from the prideful expectancy of my fellow Negroes and LAUGH AT THE FUNNY SH** HERE IN THE HOOD!

I don't know whether I should call this ghetto or just a product of LA's car culture....you decide. About two or three days ago, while I was driving home from school I noticed that a rather nice convertable mustang was driving along side me. We stopped at a light at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd and Cahuenga (for non LAers this is NOT the hood, its on a main street in Hollywood which has the tendency to look very gritty at times) and I took the opportunity to eye the car a little more seeing as how it outclassed my 95 Mazda by far! Upon looking, I noticed that there were three girls in the car and a young man driving (all of which were black), and the three women proceeded to turn the music (one of LA's local hip hop stations, of course) up and stand up in the car and dance. They didn't stop even when the light turned green! They just continued to gyrate in the car for a block or two screaming out a few words and hoots here and there. I made my left turn and they were gone...but you be the judge, ghetto or just having fun in a nice car?

No, I do not live in the ghetto, but sometimes find myself in and around the ghetto.
