This is how it goes the situation: my first year at my HBCU i hated it, so i decided to transfer....that didn't exactly work out to my advantage, so i decided to enroll back at my former school..... problem: how the hell do i go back to a school, which i hated and laughed at, as i left... i mean, im a 20 year old young man with integrity, dignity, and self respect....how pathetic looking is it for me to crawl back to the place i loathed/despised now knowing that it was a dumb decision for me to even leave???? (im also still gonna be considered a sophomore for some reason  ) i mean, am i suppose to blend in like i never left? the friend situation is kinda shaky 2, since i basically lost contact with most of the n!ggaz i chilled with the whole thing just feels weird to me, and i could use some friendly advice, or at least some sort of empathy.... holla at me p.s. im kinda giving this specific HBCU its right to anonymity .....should that matter tho

I'mma tell you like this: I HATED it my firist year too. I seriously considered leaving. But I didn't. I simply changed majors, which put me a year behind as far as my major is concerned. You shouldn't feel bad at all as far as your age and classification is concerned because you're not the only one. You may find people that are 50 years old and are sophomores in college. You're doing good as a black man for simply making an effort to get your degree. Don't worry about your age. You get boucous props just for going to school, whether you know it or not.

If its anything like A&T, you'll meet people in your major. I know so many people in the Engineering dept. its ridiculous. You also might wanna try joining some organizations. But I'm sure that all the people that you hung out with freshman year will be more than happy to welcome you back to the fold. You may even find that a few of them are a year or so behind as well. There was one girl that I just talked to occasionally when I first started, and when I came back to Engineering, we became really close friends. Its all in how ya view your situation. But for the most part, if you don't say anything to anyone about your class, then they won't know.

i agree with CC. you're already three steps ahead of many men in your age group. if you go back, work on making new friends and look to meet people who you feel are on your "level" if you wanna put it that way.

u know i almost did the same thing...i just finished my first yr and really wanna transfer... :? i am not comfortable being in one place too long but ne ways what u are feeling is a natural reaction to the situat and like someone stated before just get involved in clubs and organizations and it will be all good....i think its admirable that u are man enuff to admit ur mistakes then just drop out...keep ur head up everything will work itself out. good luck

thanx yea i really really had wanted to transfer after my freshman year, but the problem was i basically assumed i would like my new school (non hbcu) more than my old one (hbcu). But the thing is, i was right....too right....long story, but u prolly catch my drift..... anyway, what i basically understand now is that even tho i may have good ideas at certain moments, thinkin them through, even after a decision has already been made, isn't necessarily a bad idea, lol..... holla at me

I understand that you kinda feel like an **** for talking so much ****about the old school in the first place, but at least you are mature enough to admit it was a mistake and go back to finish working towards a degree. Just take it as a lesson learned and keep on pressin. Don't worry how things "look" to other folks because you're not in school to please them, and it's not their life or their job to judge you. If someone wants to be a friend, they'll ask you (on the side) what's up and try to help you readjust, simple as that, if not, don't fool with em. Oh yeah, you may be classified as a sophomore because they may not have accepted all of the credits from your other school, but hey, don't trip on that either cuz sometimes it comes along with the program. Either way, keep ya head up and get that degree!
