I would actually think its the opposite...Clothing companies make big bucks off of black folks cause anytime something is the new trend you can BET we will be on it, now all they have to do is find a way to contribute to that trend, put an outrageous price tag on it, then sit back and collect their profits
Me... :? I can't get with that lastest trend stuff all the time. I wear whatever suits me. To each his own, but its just not me.
u know y blacks r so trendy because we cant think for ourselves, we say well whatever everybody else thinks is hott or everybody wearin da same stuff well we gottta get that too and thats ignorant

that's stupid and untrue
there's nothing wrong with blacks being "trendy"..i guess, we set most if not all of the trends that leak into pop culture..it's just that these companies are like leeches on our culture and as soon as something is the least bit popular you see it being marketed all over the place...so 3 or 4 months after a certain style was cool and different it becomes monotonous and corny. So, yes trends do change but u know who is largely responsible for the speed at which they do.
and yea throwbacks are real 2002..maybe 2003 depending on what part of the country your from...

Yea, for the clothing compaines that strike first..
Let's say Purple Fur coats were in style. Black men and women would pay almost anything for a Purple furr coat..Small businesses decided to get into the act and invest money into making furr coats themselves..but once their business is off the ground..The trend is over and that business is left with a lot of coats that no one wants..
Black ppl arent trendy. They have a Herd mentality when it comes to fashion.Amongst other things. How is it Trendy to wear what everyone else is wearing? Look at Von Dutch, the dude that line was inspired by was a racist yet some black person decides it looks hot after seeing it on some white person or asian and everybody has it. If some famous black person started wearing a white hood along with the white tee and had a watch in the style of shackles, black ppl would be on that ****too. Herd mentality. But we are the same ppl who think **** is different than **** so what should be expected. We have no pride and in some cases no backbone. We need to be led rather than lead ourselves.
We arent original. And we dont investigate what we put on our bodies. We'd rather be cool and look like everyone then be ourselves. Look at the suit jacket ****Kanye and Usher started Q-tip and others from the 80's to the 90's were wearing them but they werent selling b/c of their rap styles, hell Musiq wore them b4 Kanye and Usher but he wasnt mainstream enough for ppl but as soon as come r&b singer and commercial rapper who isnt as good as he thinks he is starts wearing them niggers run to the store cuz they wanna be down. Now the button down is hot?
Business cats been doing that forever but b/c whoever did it its hot. We are more concerned with image and acceptance than being original and being ourselves. A lot of black ppl no matter what they say have self confidence issues and use the clothing to hide it.I dont rock brand name ish used to but gave them all to the homeless I rock what i am comfy in and brand name aint it. I am not a **** or a paid employee of sean john, phat farm, prada etc so why do I gotta do living ads for them?
Our clothing senses are based on the white and european world statement on fashion not our own but we dont have a mind of our own to think on our own so we become slaves to fashion and money and image. We as a people to paraphrase Cornell West are in a hotel state the lights are always on but no one is home.
We need to wake up and take control. i mean ppl rock the revolutionary shirts of Che and others and have no idea who he and others were?!?! They'd rather spend a 100 on some clothing/shoes than eat or set up a saving account to secure their futures. Black ppl could pay for college themselves if they looked at the cost of what they bought and spent it with thought in mind rather than public perception. U dont need to rock brand name sell out ****to be sharp and crisp, u've just been programmed to think u must.
WAKE UP!!!!
