i know a lot of you guys are about to graduate and head on into college as the class of 08. this question/discussion is open to all students tho but how u guys feel about long distance relationships? anybody in one right now that they wouldn't mind sharing about? like do u plan to end it with ur beau when august comes? i know i found my guy my senior year of highschool and was like "**** there's no way i can let this guy slip through my fingers". we've been together almost three years and for almost two we've held it down as a long distance relationship, seein each other only over breaks (thanksgiving, xmas, and summer vacation). its not exactly for the weak-hearted but i actually think it has made our relationship a lot stronger. we're able to meet other people (meet not date) and see wat the world is like without one breathin on the others neck. not to mention when we DO see each other it's almost as if seeing one another for the first time. just wanted other pplz thoughts

The best way to handle a situation like that is to have an open relationship . Since I am going to college I feel as if I should be able to meet new people which may include males. That's all apart of the college life and its not fair to both parties to condone it. On the other hand if you are truly in love with this person this may be a great way to test the strength of your relationship.

This is so ironic because my bf and I were having an intense discussion about whats going to happen once I go off to HU last night and pretty much we are at a difference of opinions. We've been together off and on for 3 years lol and he believes it can work long distance and he would transferr to UMD and all this crap but I just cant do that.I dont do long distance relationships period I really like him but its not that type of party with me because I dont feel like we should hold each other back when we will be in totally different area codes. I've seen the end results of long distance relationships and I rather spare the stress and drama and put a pause on the relationship when I leave....remain friends..chill on breaks..and if the feelings are still mutually present after I graduate....MAYBE we can rekindle whatever spark we had. Fair enough right...?

I've known only 1 long distance relationship that worked while I was in college. I've seen PLENTY of them fail. The only reason that that one relationship worked was b/c they saw each other EVERY weekend! If she didn't go home, he came on campus. They were only an hour apart. Now they're married with a daughter. If it's true love, then hold on to the relationship. If you think that your interests may be "peaked" while you or your partner is away, then let it go.

I didn't have one after high school, but I did have an "8-hour" one after college for 6 years. Now we're married with a child on the way. It was hard but we made it work!

I'm in a long distance relationship at this present time. We've been together for a year. I've known him since I was 15yrs old. He's my best friend and I hope to one day become his wifey! (Mrs. Norris) We both know the long distance is temporary due to our career choices but, we hanging in there..lol. I truly couldn't ask for a better mate.
