aight, all this talk admissions has been giving me about having a full scholarship to FAMu.....
I applied to the university the first week of January. On January 22, i received correspondence that i was eligible for a full ride, and would b sent certification within 3 weeks to sign whether or not i accepted the award. Its now March 15, and I have yet to receive an acceptance letter OR a certification for my scholarship.
So i try to call the university and see whats up. I've been calling Office of Admissions for 2 1/2 SKRAIT WEEKS and get a busy sig each time. I called Recruitment n Scholarships, and get told that the computer system was down in the office, and there are stacks and stacks of applications not even LOOKED THROUGH yet, and there was a good chance mine could b in that stack. She couldn't even find the certification for my scholarship in HER files. I try to FAX this ho somethin, and she gave me the WRONG NUMBER!
So finally i get in touch with the music Dept. and explain my dilemma to this work-study chick. She's like, "Don't worry about it, my freshman year I applied in December and didn't get accepted til June."
I don't want to put down hundreds in deposit fees at other schools f i don't even know where i stand with THIS one, my FIRST CHOICE, the FIRST school i applied to!!!!!!! how i get offered a scholarship if they don't even know if i'm accepted yet?
makin me wonder do i realllllly wanna go here......
did anyone else have to deal with screwups like this?
This is somewhat also happening to me.
I applied in Early Februray and still ain't get no acceptance. My friend applied like in October-November and didn't get accepted til Februry. For it to supposed to take 6 weeks, it takin d@mn near too long.
Maybe I need to apply to alot more schools just in case.
Naw Sista, I applied in December and got accepted in January. I never had any problem with the school as far as admissions, but I do have problems with the OurFamu website. At first it wouldn't take my social security #, so I had to e-mail the help desk and they gave me a password and User ID. I used it to accept admission, but then I ended up logging off and I couldn't log back in! I had to e-mail them again and get a new password, but now I can't even get to the website from my computer, soooo.....I'm going through so mess there. But other than that, I'm kool. I juss needa make my FINAL decision (based on my momma and finances) and get my housing deposit in, ASAP!!!! Parents, they're always procrastinating and holding folks back! :lol
Well really I see where you're coming from and I understand
but also...I know we've all heard these sorts of stories before...and we should some what know what to expect from HBCUs....Either you accept it...or you don't........be patient or not.....I know I applied to Howard in late October and didn't find out until March 4th but thats probably because they "couldn't find my test scores"
Girl I didn't even know where I was goin to school until June 15 of last year. I applied to 8 schools, got accepted to 6 of them before May 1st. I applied to Hampton in February and didn't get accepted to Hampton til May 28. Meanwhile I had to pass on a few schools that gave me good financial aid packages to wait on Grambling and I ended up at Hampton (which by tha way gave me NO money!)...long story short...just pay ur deposit at ur back up school and ask for it back if u end up at FAMU anyway.
Yay, on behalf of my university....Im sorry that you have to deal with the inconveniences cause TRUST ME...I know how FAMU is. In my senior year, I applied to them in December and didnt get accepted until April...It took them so long cause I had to keep re-sending them my test scores, and applications cause they had lost them. All I can tell you is to stay on them and keep callin until they get it right...
>>>>>>>>( if Monte and Demmeri can have a " babe of the month " so can I. ) 8)
This is not a problem that only affects FAMU but also other colleges also. It just depends on when u send your applications in, but it is also a waiting game and it is advisable that you stay on top of things now because that is what u will be doing in college because u are responsible for your academic affairs. If u truly want, to go to FAMU, then wait it out but have back up plans.
