If this is out of line please let me know...
I am doing a paper on Black Greek Letter Organizations.. and yes i've used google..
But my main question is what do you all think Encourages people and discourages people from joining a Black Greek Letter Organization. I am not a prospect and don't plan to become one but the information you all can give me is going to have a great impact on my paper..
I have asked around, and i have heard more of the reasons WHY people join them but none of the reasons why people don't , i'd be very grateful if you all could help..
Thanks
Daya
there are 2 books that can assist you with this question:
1. Black haze
2. Black greek 101
(I forget the authors but if u google it im sure u will find out)

So you have no interest in joining but you just want the information for a "paper"?
That sounds sketchy to me.
What class is this for?
And what was your original assignment?

exactly..
I have no interest in joining an organization, if i had i would have asked about a particular org. I have family who are in Greek ORGs, but it never actually appealed to me.. Not everyone who posts on this board is a prospect.
This is for my African-American History Class (I am in High School)
My Orignal Assignment is to discuss the topic of African American Organizations and their impact on the black community... Aren't Greeks organizations?
Any other questions?

tie into the central topic?
You are going through a lot to make a big deal outta nothing..
My esst. topic, given by the teacher, was not to write on Greek Letter Organizations..
It was to write on Black Organizations...
I choose to write on Greeks, because there are a lot of great African-American men and women who have done so many things and were also members of some sort of Organization..
I wanted to include in my paper, why men and women choose to persue Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLO's? <- is that what they are called?) and since i am always around Greeks i decided to ask, they had no problem answering, but their answers were always WHY they decided to join and why others join organizations, but no-one has ever told me why people tend not to persue joining a Fraternity or Sorority. So i figured i could ask some people who were in university and are prob. around it, but i don't know anyone who is in university now who has pledged.
Now,
I am not a prospect of any organization.. not my calling and not my thing. But i am glad that so many greeks are out there representing the black community in a positive way. but it just aint me..
should i be crucified because i stated that i was not a prospect? Nothing Fishy.. if you want i can post the final essay, grammer corrections and all.
