I know alot of people believe in the biblical character Jesus, but how about this. I was reading a book the other day and the author began to talk about the origins of Judaism and Christianity. Here is a summary of what he said.
The story of Jesus is a mythical story based on esoteric symbolism of the Sun God. Hence Jesus is the "Son of God". The crown of thorns that he wore on the cross is symbolic of the rays of Sun, and is also seen on the Statue of Liberty (which is another symbolic figure). The cross itself comes from the Egyptian Ankh, which represents life and light, the Sun.
The trinity Jesus-God-Holy Spirit parallels many other mythical stories such as Horus-Osiris-**** (Egypt). Similarities between Horus and Jesus?
Jesus was the way, the truth and the life. Horus was the truth and the life.
Both the Good Shephard
Both were the lamb
Both are identified with a cross
Both were baptised at 30
Jesus was child of a virgin, Mary. Horus was the child of a virgin, ****.
The birth of both are marked by a star
Both were the child teacher in the temple
Jesus had 12 disciples. Horus had 12 followers
Jesus was the Morning Star. Horus was the Morning Star.
Jesus was the Christ. Horus was the Krst
Jesus was tempted on a mountain by Satan. Horus was tempted on a mountain by Set (Egyptian god of darkness, hence sun-Set)
Jesus was said to be judge of the ****. This was also said about ****, Krishna, Buddha, Ormuzd, Osiris, Aeacus and others.
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the first and last. So was Krishna, Buddha, Lao-Kiun Bacchus, Zeus and others.
Jesus performed miracles like healing the sick, raising the ****. So did Krishna(Hindu), Buddha, Zoroaster, Bochia, Horus, Osiris, Serapis, Marduk, Bacchus, Hermes and others.
Jesus was born of royal blood. So was Buddha, Rama, Fo-hi, Horus, Hercules, Bacchus, Perseus and others.
Jesus was born to a virgin. So was Krishna, Buddha, Lao-kiun, Confusius, Horus, Ra, Zoroaster, Prometheus, Perseus, Apollo, Mercury, Baldur, Quetzalcoatl (Mexican not mayan though) and far more.
Jesus will be born again. So will Krishna, Vishnu, Buddha, Quetzalcoatl and others.
The story of Jesus was created/recycled and used as a tool to enslave people's minds through a dictatorial religion, Christianity. This religion is not unique in any way.
The twelve disciples are symbolism for the twelves solar bodies (yes there are twelve) and twelve astrological signs. 12 is all over the place.
During Easter, the summer solstice, the sun begins to stay out shorter and shorter until its shortest length of time in December. Jesus was born on December 25th. It takes the Sun three days to recover from the winter solstice from December 21st/22nd to December 25th. He dies in March on Easer. Hence Jesus died and rose on the third day. The same length of time it took the Babylon Son of God, Tammuz to rise again.
Also March is during the astrological sign of Aries, the Ram or... the lamb.
Jesus is associated with the fish because that is when he was supposed to have been born. During the entering of the astrological house of Pisces not the sign. Astrological houses last somewhere around 2000+ years. We are now entering the house of Aquarious.
The Christian religious day is... SUNday.
The author then speaks about who the true authors of the New Testament are. Let me assure you they are not Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, Paul or any of these Biblical characters.
As a matter of fact there is no documentation of anybody by these names ever to have been in these places at this time outside of the Bible. There is nobody named Pontius Pilate except in the Bible.
There is no written history of anybody named Moses, King David, King Solomon or most of the Biblical characters you read about except in the Bible. These are characters aer more symbolism that I could get into.
I have no problem with anybody's religious beliefs I just think it's necessary to do the research before you make that comittment.
So did Jesus really live? Or is he a biblical character that has been created and so hyped up that the whole world accepts him as LORD without looking at background information. Jesus was a duplicate, myth, and he has been used to control the populations to this day. Have you ever thought about where these religions came from? and why is Bush claiming to be a Christian? And why have so many wars been started in the past because of religion? And why was there centuries of Dark Ages when knowledge was suppressed because of religion? And why were so many people slaughtered at the inquisition because of RELIGION? It's because religion is a tool, a quite effective one at that.

Somebody told you that God does things in people's lives and you believe that. You are right!! God does do things in people's lives but alter your perception and look at it like this for a second. What if God's life was our life. What if each and everyone of our lives was another one of God's lives just with a different mind (mind is what compiles experience). Our different thought processes is the only thing that seperates us from each other. Not the physical body that dies and passes.
Also, I think what the poet was trying to say is that you're Christian because that is what you were raised as, which is exactly what you said. She wasn't trying to say that literally it's your mother who made you Christian.
Can someone please make a comment about the former paragraph. I am putting tons of ideas into this thread, and all I'm getting back is, "I'm gonna defend this till I die!!", and nobody comes back with any thoughts about what I've said. What's the deal??
Obviously, I'm not pagan. Obviously, I'm not athiest. Obviously, I'm not attacking or trying to offend anyone so there is no need for the defense. Can somebody please say... "I disagree with this idea because...." So that we can have a discussion instead of "attack", defense. "I'm not gonna argue with those that don't listen" My ears are open all your doing is saying that you are going to defend yourself forever. Once again you have to laugh a little.
Nah I dont really have a temper but it EXTREMELY frustrates me when people make comments like that and dont know the WHOLE story behind it...but in regards to what your saying...I hear what you are saying, and I COMPLETELY respect your opinion. And like I DID SAY, I became a Christian cause I was raised by my parents to be one...but as I got older THAT IS NOT THE REASON WHY I REMAINED A CHRISTIAN. Just cause I was raised one thing doesnt mean I have to remain that. I know LOTS of people who were raised in church and raised to believe in God and so on and so forth, but when they got older, they realized Christianity wasnt for them...and cause of it they dont have or share any of the beliefs I have. Which is fine...that is their business. But as I said before, I am a Chrsitian because of the different experiences that have gone on in my life and the lives of others and if it werent for Jesus Christ himself I wouldnt be where I am today. ANd as I said before, in my heart I know He lives. And thats the only argument I can give for my personal views and beliefs in why I say that Jesus is not a myth. The reason why I took Choklats response so personally was because the way I took it she made it sound to me is that...I am just a puppet that follows and believes everything my mother tells me and if she told me God didnt esist tomorrow " I would become an atheist. " Did she say that NO...but thats how it sounded to me. But like I said People dont know me or my life and why I believe what I believe they form their own opinions and jaded judgements...but oh well...What can you do...
Oh I said nothing about tomorrow .. Its too late now
It has not been proven that Jesus of Nazareth actually lived. As a matter of fact much of his story mirrors that of the Mithril Religion (a competing religion popular in Asia Minor (Turkey) at the time. It also mirrors Egyptian, Chinese, and Sumerian mythology.
I believe there is a God; there are just many different ways to worship him. I've always thought it was unfair that 14 million Jews, 1.5 million Muslims and 700 million Hindu's are going to hell; simply because they weren't fortunate enough to grow up with Christianity. Each of us has a soul worth saving and I don't think God has only left one option. You choose your faith based on environmental influences and what brings the most peaceful response.
FAITH is what makes Christianity a recognized and accepted religion. If you've seen or felt the spirit of the Lord and you know in your heart of hearts that what is being said is true, then you should not be offended if people challenge your thinking. You would be better served to research things for yourself and then come to your own conclusions. I've done my research and believe in Christianity and the redemption story. I just don't think the KJV of the Bible is a complete text, and continue my search for knowledge.

How do you know what people have told her??? How come she cant go off her own experiences with God.I really dont get why that all you keep saying.People told you tihs or people told you that...I can easily say that about what youve learned. You dont have any hardcore facts the he doesnt exist so.What you and other people are saying can be offensive because we christians obviously care about our religion. If you wanna know about christianity just go to a church and ask, thats the best research you can do at this point.Am I telling you to join a church ??? no ,but dont just rely on what others in a book say. This is all a total waste because nothing new is being said only insults have been thrown out..
and to IHOTA  If Im in a cult so are you..Its called Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
I just wanted to tell proAKAtive that I agree completely with everythin you're sayin...didn't want you to feel like you were alone... ....i just don't feel like going back and forth with people that have no intentions of really listening to valid points...so...just wanted you to know I got ya back!!!!
I think its ok to go back and forth but in a respectful debate...and as you can see we are going nowhere. Its cool because I wont lose any sleep over this.
And what are u basing ur high mighty belief off of? What ur mother told u? .. Id bet my life that if mommy told u that GOD didnt exist u would be an atheist ..
First off all WTF....You dont know me and you dont why Im a Chrstian. You have your nerve to make your assumptions on why I am a Christian. Yes I was raised a Christian as a child, but that isnt the reason why I STAY a Christian. I believe what I believe because of what I have seen God do for others in their lives including mine, and how how I know that if it werent for God because of different circumstances and situations, I wouldnt be where I am...THATS WHY I AM A CHRISTIAN...not cause of my mother...People **** me gonna JUDGE me and dont know nothing about who I am and the things that have gone on in my life and gonna make stupid assumptions..." cause my mother " WTF :!: :!: :!: That shows how little you know about me cause me and " MY MOTHER. " Since you seem to wanna call her out and my mother and I are constantly arguing about different things in the Bible cause there are things that Im not quite sure of and I dont necessarily agree with the interpretations that she believes in. I have my OWN OPINIONS and MY OWN BELIEFS...and come from nothing but from what I BELIEVE...COntrary to what YOU THINK.
I Swear....these people... :x
You belief and witnessing of what "GOD" has done for u has nothing to do with ur belief in the Christian Denomination .. Its just ur belief in a "Higher Power" .. But u just said urself that u WERE RAISED AS A CHRISTIAN .. Just because u and ur mother disagree on different things proves nothing .. You still believe in the basic principle of christianity .. BECAUSE thats what u were RAISED to believe .. But "u say" its because u have witnessed what GOD has dont for u .. Thats fine and dandy .. But what have u WITNESSED about Christianity .. Probably nothing .. But thats what u were TOLD to believe in .. Can anyone say non denominational?
You know what, Im just gonna end it like this. I have SEEN what Christianity has done for people, and how I have heard people testify to having gone through some stuff in their lives and talk about how they used to be, and if it werent for Jesus saving them they would have never turned their lives around for the better. And as a Christian I do have faith and believe that Jesus does work miracles in people's lives. But aside from all that...I am a Christian for one main reason...Because I BELIEVE....I dont care what I have been taught by WHOEVER you think. But I believe In Jesus Christ for reading for myself in the Holy Bible, that all who accept and believe in Him shall have eternal life. Lastly, I dont need to be " TOLD " anything by anyone cause everything I could ever wanna learn about and know I can find for myself in God's Word...In other words...cant nobody brainwash me to believe anything cause I have a brain and can find out for myself what I choose to believe...

Ok Mr. Reality, I understand your reasoning for questiong christianity, i understand your reasoning for questioning the bible, and i even understand that you decided to question all of this because you wanted answers...but this is the problem.... , no one, on this earth , has all of the answers about anything. Scientist dont have all of the answers about science, doctors dont have all the answers about medicine, and so on. There is no source that you can find that will give you all of the answers you want, but, when people are looking for a reason for something that science or doctors cannot provide, they turn to God. And not only Christians turn to God, so please tell me why it is only Christians you are being so critical of? If the story of Jesus is so similar to others, then why are you only questioning him? Im not a fool, and i know that the Bible has been tampered with over time, men wrote it, and men make mistakes. But honestly i know everything i need to know. Whats the harm in beleiving? Religion is something that i really dont like, just because i think it divides people. But i know that i do believe in Jesus, and im not wrong for it. If you dont want to believe, thats your choice, but i wouldnt recommend it.
The way I see it, there's history, there's research, and there's facts. These things are all important. And then there is faith, which, to some, is even more important. I believe that Christianity is rooted more in the faith than in the facts. You can question the fact of Jesus' existance, but his legacy and his impact on Christians of many ages cannot be questioned, because they represent faith. You can question the Bible's levels of truth, facts, but you cannot question the extent to which people believe in it as a guide to life and salvation, faith. Some things are simply beyond facts and figures. Someone asked earlier why Christians believe what they believe. We believe it not simply because it is what we have been taught (which is sometimes the case), but because we have faith in our beliefs and what those beliefs mean to our lives. Now, if you choose not to believe, then that's your choice. However, just as it is rude and disrespectful for Christians to taunt, ridicule, and uselessly preach to uninterested nonbelievers, it is also disrespectful for nonbelievers to blatently attempt to discount the validity of someone's faith. We all have different beliefs. Lets learn to live with that fact.
