it SHOULDN'T be. i don't think they count the words lol. they prolly just know how 500 words look.
my spelman essay said a minimum of 500 words and i wrote 667 words. woot woot. lol
BUT...on the other hand, if that's in the directions, you should follow em. try re-reading and seeing what could fit in & add it.
