I'm getting my current English teaacher to look over my essay tomorrow. I'm glad that she's cool and she'll be brutally honest with me about it.

Question: Howard's Admission Essay requires a max of 500 words, so I was wondering if it would be wise to strive for 500??? I consider myself a decent writer, as far as high school standards go, and I tend to get to the point rather than having some long drawn out essay. I think I may need to add more to it, but I don't want it to seem like I pulled it out of my a** lol [excuse the French]

I wouldn't advise adding fluff...that will get you nowhere. As long as your essay is clear and concise, has a beginning, middle and end with supporting details for your points, you will be just fine.

Well, the people you spoke to were not too far off base. In regards to the dorms, visitors are allowed to see the common areas. These common areas include the lobby, front desk, lounge area and computer labs. Seeing the actual rooms is a No-No...I'm not sure why, I think there is a university policy against it. But if you click these links: Residence Life - Howard University and Campus Virtual Tour: Residence Life at Howard University all your questions may be answered without even needing to go into the actual dorms! Now, as far as sitting in on classes I have never had anyone do that in any of MY classes but I'm sure it's been done before. Do you know any current students? What is your intended major? You best bet would be to get someone you know to ask their professor ahead of time to make sure it's okay.

Real talk, if you want a feel for the campus on an actual school day then dont get a guided tour. You will stand out like a sore thumb, lol I can give you places to go and things to do that will make you feel like a real student. You will definitely blend right in....
