^Just as long as you realize that there are people all over that lack common sense as well.
I get the "You from TEXAS??? All yall wear is cowboy boots and yall live in the desert! Ain't no Black folks in Dallas! You listen to country music? You like George Bush don't you? Most of yall wear golds!" all the time.
Okay well why is everything so much SLOWER down south..............everybody's so lax, slow-talkin, and it takes people a long time to respond to things..........
Very generalized statement, cause not all people in the South talk slow(not that anything is wrong with that), but the only way I could explain that situation is that it is culture. Culture includes you becoming accustomed to certain things such as dialiect and when you come across unfamiliar things or, tones in your cases, those situations happen. Just like if a person from London or something comes over here and may need a work pronounced repeatedly cause it's hard to understand. Everybody is different and it's not wrong, it's just different. Her not understanding what you said has nothing to do with common sense.
^Just as long as you realize that there are people all over that lack common sense as well.
Thats why I CLEARLY said MOST not ALL....if the show fits where it, if not,

No one does anything with a quickness.........
i.e.
me- "May I speak to Mrs. Regina Jones?"
southern woman- "Who?"
me- "Mrs. Regina Jones please..."
southern woman- "Aw Regini-aaaaaaaa...."
*awkard pause approximately 30 seconds long*
me- "So may I speak with her?"
southern woman- "Aw who? Regini----aaaa?"
me- "Yes please."
southern woman- "Hol on chile"
You can imagine how long it takes her to relay the message...
At home...
me- "Hello. May I speak to Mrs. Regina Jones?"
northern woman-"Give me one second please, and I will connect you to Mrs. Regina Jones's extension."
IF THAT AINT THE TRUTH, I DONT KNOW KNOW WHAT IS. Someone understands where Im coming from....but once again....this isnt ALL just MOST...so if it doesnt apply to you, dont take it personally.
LOL wow. Y'all are bein pretty stereotypical. We all know that the south as a whole has behind every since the Civil War, and for obvious reasons.
If you meant "the South is behind", I really hate when people say that. Mainly, New Yorkers. What are we behind in exactly? Behind from what yall do? Some people act like we study everybody else to see what they are doing. We do our own thing. Just like a few of us still wear Reeboks, and in NY, Reeboks ain't in style any more(from what I hear). I hear we trying to be them all the time but others say we are behind?? So, I think they are just a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings about things.

No one is taking it personally, J, just wanna clear things. I know people like myself hear these stereotypes millions of times, especially being up here with mostly northern and easterners. It get's kinda irritating especially when you know that most of the stereotypes come from people who ain't from the South, so how do they know? Ya feel me?
It's still love though. You one of my favorite people on here so I ain't gon let you get to me :

Well, I think you just take it personally, but it is the truth, just probably not in the way that you probably think. I am not from NY but I kno they prolly do say things like that. It's like this...on a general scale, since the civil war, the south has been behind economically and in many ways such as technology and education. So overall, the poverty level and illiteracy level is a whole lot lower in the south than it is in most other regions. That's why the cost of living in the south is much lower than in places like LA NY Chicago and others.
So don't take it as a personal insult. Just be happy that you are from the south and you are at the same level as everyone else in other regions.

What do you mean on the same level as others from other regions? I'm really not trying to be.
I don't think proverty and illiteracy has anything to do with this but ok. Oprah Winfrey, Condoleezza Rice, Martin Luther King, Mary McLeod Bethune, Stanley O’Neal are Southerns so I'm not really tripping too much about a poverty & illiterate level.
But its the same thing when Whites have stereotypes about Black people. You know those stereotypes don't reflect you, but its still frustrating hearing those things, especially when it's done on a continuous basis and when they're just judgements and assumptions.

When I say same level, I just mean that you are in college and educated.
When people say the South is behind, PLEASE DO NOT think that means they are sayin that every single person in the south is behind, because that definitely is not the case. It is just that overall when you compare the overall circumstances in the south, they definitely are behind. Yeah those people you named are from the South, and I never said anything about every single person there is illiterate, that would be a completely stupid thing for me to say.
Overall, I can say that it is like this...take the #1 high school in your county, and compare it to one that is #50. Of course there are still people at the #50 school who are just as smart and smarter than the smartest ones at the #1 school. BUT as a whole, if you average out everybody from the school, the students from the #1 school are doin a lot better. That's how it is in the south, and I think some southerners take it personally when it's said but it's no way that you can deny it. Not only do statistics prove it, but just bein down south and seein how different things are from other cities, you can tell. It's geniuses down south and crackheads and idiots in NY and LA. However, I think I've said enough and if you don't somewhat agree with me now, you never will, so I'll end my arguement.
^Agree to disagree.
Did you go to the South a have a bad experience or something cause I've noticed that you always have a somewhat negative comment about the south or southerners.

LOL What? Me?? When do I ever have negative comments to say about the south? Please find those threads n comments and show em to me because whatever I say is just an unbiased observation of the truth.
I go to FAMU so I've been around a whole lot of southerners, and like I always say...I have a lot of positives and negatives to say about them...the same way I have a lot of positives and negatives to say about people back in LA.
I still don't think I am sayin anything negative by saying a truth that the south as a whole is behind, because MANY MANY people have said it. I only realized it and began to say it when my history teacher explained us how things happened after that war. I just think you get offended hearin that and you don't agree with it because you aren't seein it in the same way that we are. WE ARE NOT INSULTING THE SOUTH! WE ARE NOT SAYING EVERY PERSON IN THE SOUTH IS BEHIND EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE COUNTRY!!!
