well, I guess I'll post a topic for the first time in like a year lol...I just had to get this off of my chest and I want you guys to feel my pain
so basically The University of Georgia and the whole white college experience **** ****...coming here has made me dislike white people SO much
1) I've been called nigg3r twice and colored on numerous occasions...and I can't count the number or stares I get from the stupid white hicks who go here thinking that this school is actually worth something...to be honest, after enrolling here, I don't consider UGA to be prestigious AT ALL...It's a joke
2) Black "student life" here is a joke...hell there really IS no black student life...ask most black people on campus where they usually are on a Saturday night and they'll say "In my dorm"...80% of the black people that go here are either athletes or only associate with white people...the rest of us are left in the dark trying to revive organizations such as the NAACP and Black Affairs Council on campus w/o much help from the administration or student body as a whole...the gatdamn Latinos get more funding than we do and there's only like 200 of them here...
3) There's no feeling of black unity or pride on this campus AT ALL...everyone is so divided and backstabbing...it's seriously mind-boggling to me...I mean, shouldn't we be MORE unified being that there's so little of us here? How dare you walk past your brother or sister without even acknowledging their presence?
4) White people act like I'm an alien when they see me in a study room with my laptop studying for HOURS (like I'm doing now) or when I sit in the front row of class answering every question correctly
MY ADVICE: DON'T ATTEND A PWC FOR UNDERGRAD...you'll regret it if it turns out to not be for you...don't let anyone tell you that you must attend a white college because "the world isn't all black"...trust me, a PWC isn't going to help develop your social skills anymore than an HBCU would...and I'm practically teaching myself everything here because we do EVERYTHING online due to the fact that our classes are so huge (400+ people???)...I wish I could turn back the hands of time and go to Howard like I'd planned....but dammit I WILL transfer if it kills me :x
I ended up transferring to the school in my hometown, because of some difficulties I had at my last school. I really don't like it here, and can't wait to transfer out of here.
Here's a little issue I'm dealing with of my own, and I wanted you guys opinion on it:
Albany State screwed me pretty bad. As far as financial aid, and other ways I won't discuss on here. My parents were pretty ticked off about it, as was I. So ticked in fact, that my parents said that they wouldn't pay for me to go to another HBCU. Only PWC's are an option now.
I understand where they are coming from, because, business wise, I haven't heard of ONE BLACK HBCU's that's on top of their game. That includes the prestigous ones such as Morehouse, Spelman, and Howard. I'm no racist at all, I get along with whites just fine, but, I just think I'd be more happy, and more involved at an HBCU. As far as the activities that go on on the campus of an HBCU, the type of extra-curricular activities/groups to join, the issues that are discussed, I think they just relate better to me than the activities and groups at a PWC would. For example, the type of forums and activities to do here at Macon State don't relate to my interests and concerns as well as ASU did.
But I know my parents wouldn't want to hear that, they just focus on business wise, and getting a good education....after all, that IS the main reason why I am in school. Education IS #1 in my priorities, but I also want to enjoy my college experience.
In you guys opinion, what should I do? Advice from people who are currently attending PWC's would also be appreciated as well.

From my experience, I've gotten a better education at the many black schools I've gone to in my life than this PWC I'm at now... so if you're thinking that a PWC will give you a better education, that may not be so true. And PWCs mess up financial aid too, it's just less common and less complained about. My PWC messed up my financial aid, but I didn't get all whiney about it like most people do at HBCUs. And about the education thing, I hate to say it, but the teachers at this PWC I'm at now are crap. I've never had to drop a class before in my life, but here I had to. So I say go for comfort because you can get just as good an education at an HBCU, and probably even better, as a white school, and realize that no school is perfect and they all make mistakes, even the white schools. I wish I hada chosen a black school in the first place, but I had my reasons "oh I'll get a better education" and "my finaid won't get mixed up" and "there'll be less drama" NOT TRUE. I've never been called a B before in my life and I come to a white school and that word's been shoved down my throat. So there.

I didn't really like my hbcu b/c I didn't like the academic life and at the time the extra curricular wasn't hitting on a thing. They've come up but the pwi i'm at is better for me. But I do want to go back to an HBCU for grad school.
