That is called a LABRET (pronounced la-brey) ..it is usually about a half an inch under the bottom lip, but people get it various places...its often confused with the lip ring. Mine is right under my lip so u can barely tell when u glance b/c the ball is so small.
Since this is a tongue ring thread....I got mine when the whole "Tongue Ring Fad" was popular and everyone was getting one...The only time mine hurt was when it was swollen and when i had to take it out...which was often b/c my job required my speaking abilities and I couldn't have one visible, so in those cases, I wore a clean retainer. Ummm as far as ppl getting the wrong impression, screw them. I'm not going home with them so i could care less. If you wanna get one, then do it. If you don't like it, take it out..which is the beauty of piercings. Do it for yaself...don't do it if ya new boyfriend said he likes girls with tongue rings...you are NOT a freak-a-leek song!
