Yeah ...marching band gets it pretty bad. Somebody told me some freshman flag girls were on a overnight trip...and basically if you're any type of performer at an HBCU your hair make up and everything has to be on point...they said the older flag girls came in and poured water and all this other type of stuff on them. They had to stay up the rest of the night cleaning up and trying to get themselves together for the game the next day.

JSU's Tinsley Headed To NCAA Nationals By JSU Sports Information Email this article Printer friendly page Conference champion hurdler looks to claim top national honors (JACKSON, Miss.) - In the sport of track and field, one statement holds true in every event: In the end, there can be only one winner. By next Friday, Division I men's track and field will have only one sprint and distance hurdler champion; Michael Tinsley looks to be that one. After months of training and more than ten competitions, including the 2004 SWAC Outdoor Championship and the 2004 NCAA Regionals held in Baton Rouge, Tinsley has advanced to the 2004 NCAA National Track and Field Championships to be held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. The competition is slated for June 9-12. "Mike (Tinsley) is one of the better athletes at Jackson State and in the Southwestern Athletic Conference," said head coach Edmond Donald. "He continues to improve himself with each trip to the track. Only time will tell how good he can be." Tinsley has had one of the better seasons in the region. He ran 7.56 in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2003 ASU Kickoff Klassic before he won the 60-meter hurdles title with a time of 8.08 at the 2004 SWAC Indoor Championships. Tinsley ran the lead leg on the 4 x 400 meter relay team that set the meet record at the 2003 ASU Kickoff Klassic. Tinsley captured both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles titles at the 2004 SWAC Outdoor Championships in May. He registered a time of 13.86 in the 110-meter hurdles and 50.87 in the 400-meter hurdles. A multi-event athlete, he ran the second leg of the team that captured the title at the 2004 SWAC Championships. The criminal justice major was All-State and All-District in several events during his high school career. A Little Rock, Ark., native only has one career ambition … to become an Olympian. Next week, may be the next step on that journey

I see Howard and Hampton as other HBCUs in the results...I think the guy from Hampton is just a freshman and placed 13th...that ain't too bad.
