Sorority Members with Bad Attitudes Posted on 08-29-2007

Okay... this question is going to the Greeks. (Which I would prefer only Greek members to respond). Anyway, they had a college organization fair at my school. I did as someone mentioned on the Prospect protocol to go to more than one Greek table to get information and to ask questions. I approached one sororities table and they were real friendly and gave some helpful information. I approached another sorority's table and one of the members was real dry and didn't speak. To sum it up... she was plain out RUDE! So my question is what makes people be so mean spirited? Now... I can understand someone acting like that toward someone if they were on line, but to act like that with someone who is just inquiring about your organization is just plain out crazy! So my question is... do I not let that one person change my decision about the organization as a whole or do I need to consider joining another organization of girls who know how to act with some sense? I understand that the whole purpose of joining an organization is to be friends with the people in the org, but what if they aren't friendly and stupid acting? Just curious to what your responses will be. Also, feel free to give me some helpful advice and share some stories of how it was when you were a Greek interest.

If I decide to do the Black Greek organization I might do it Grad chapter because I have a cousin that is a President over a Grad Chapter and it will breeze for me to join without all the hassle, because like I said before I'm too grown for foolishness! LOL

I'm glad I didn't ask. Only a GDI would think something like that.

You still on that GDI tip? I'm glad that you got plenty of time to waste on your hands for you to know all of the Greek abbreviations. What would society do without you? LOL

SMC112, you are so funny to me. In the majority of the topics I have read in which you have posted a comment, you seem to always be in the antagonist role. Do you do this on purpose? I find myself having a good laugh reading your post and the ones that reply back to you. Anyway, I'm not sure which sorority you are interested in but NONE of them need your money. The ones that are in the Divine Nine have thousands of members paying dues and assessments and thousands waiting to belong so that they can pay those same dues and assessments. Also, many men and women who are part of Grad chapters are among the city's elite professionals. They have money an freely give it out of dedication and love for their sorority or fraternity and the standards their organization holds constant. That being said, we want quality not quanity. You do have to have something more to offer besides money. Intelligence and a positive attitude to name a couple. Reading your posts for this particular topic is like an advertisemnt of what NOT TO SAY or do as a prospective fraternity or sorority member. If you have by chance displayed this same attitude at the college you attend, you may have unwittingly invited the chilly reception you received from the young lady in the position you aspire to one day be. Just a thought.

Sistagyrl, this is really pure entertainment for me. I'm the type of person who questions things and don't just go with the flow. I guess you could say that I am a free and deep thinker. I analyze everything. Some of the things you said were true about some Grad chapters having the city's elite that will give out of love for their sorority. That only depends on where the Graduate chapter is located. Not all chapters have the type of people that you described in their chapter so they basically take on the people who show interest. Also, I offer intelligence and a positive attitude and any organization would be blessed to have a person like me in it. Now days, at many schools, they aren't picking the quality of girls that would make a difference in their sorority. They let things such as jealousy and all kinds of silly things block their judgment and they end up picking a low caliber of females. I am a beautiful woman and very intelligent and I feel that that girl, of that particular sorority, was intimidated by me. For one thing, I fit the profile of what the sorority founders of this particular organization were looking for in the women that they chose. I'm beautiful, smart, and I also have morals and character. I am a superstar and when I walk in a room heads turn whether black or white. So I can see why the girl might have been intimidated by me. I figured that it just might have been jealousy because the girl doesn't even know me to even give me a cold shoulder. Also, some people are just crazy and I didn't have to do anything to make her act stupid. Some people are just plain out crazy for no apparent reason!

That is true because the Graduate chapters are keeping these organizations alive. Most people after they graduate do not pay anymore dues to the National's, but they keep wearing their paraphernalia though. LOL
