Howard University Marching Band Scholarship Info Posted on 01-14-2008
theTRUTH

The Howard University "Showtime" Marching Band has scholarships available for all interested musicians. Scholarships are given based on skill level and playing ability and vary in amount. Students of all classifications may receive a marching band scholarship, however, preference is given to first time in college freshmen. Band scholarships are reserved for wind and percussion players only. Auxilary members (Ooh La La! Dancers and Flashy Flag Squad) DO NOT receive scholarships. Interested individuals can post their inquiries in this forum or PM me. All young ladies interested in try-out information should contact the Director of Bands at Howard University, Mr. John Newson, at 202-806-5241. You are welcome. I plan to attend the Honda Battle of the Bands in Atlanta. Are there any events taking place in Atlanta on Jan 25th? What do you think about the Velvet Room, Compoud, and Verve? Thanks in advance!
Everyone claims to be having the official pre party and after party But on Friday I belive House, Motions and Esso are supposed to be the "happening" spots, lol I might be at Esso on Friday night...

Thanks for the information. I will be in Atlanta on Friday morning. Since I am staying downtown, I will probably check out ESSO. Actually, I am familiar with ESSO so I should have a good time.

This thread seems to be pretty old, but I'm going to be a senior in High School this upcoming fall school year, and I'm the captain of my High School's drumline (3 years) and I really am looking at coming to Howard. Do they still offer band scholarships? and if so, who do i need to contact about it? thx.
