After I leave Coahoma I want to attend a 4 year HBCU. Can anyone give me any insite about where to go. Im doing my own research but any helpful info will be greatly appreciated especially from alumni and current students. What are some of the "better" hbcu's in your opinion?
well being an ambassodor for my school, i think the best choice is the school that has been producing leaders since 1882.Paine college.... we are a 4 year liberal arts methodist college... i love it and u would too
Paine College. Augusta, GA.
big_gatt i agree that you should also consider clark atlanta. great communications program and its in atl. you'll also be across the street from morehouse and spelman. so therefore there will be many social interactions between all three schools.
right/ i think im gone do my Mass comm Grad work in atl..... i wanna do that... but im still gone say Paine is best for you.... lol yea we selfish at paine... we want all mass comm majors
My aunt attended jackson state for about a month.lol. they have a communications school, but as far as jackson state goes it either is or isn't for you i personally don't believe i'd do well there because the environment isn't really what i'm acustomed too. the way my aunt explained it was that she came from an environment where girls were debutantes, members of jack and jill, mom's were members of links inc, and she was use to more preppy students. If this isn't you then you'd probably like both southern and jackson. My aunt ended up prefering schools such as howard, hampton, and spelman where there were students who came from backgrounds similar to her own. While she probably could have found friends at jsu with similar backgrounds; it wasn't as common as it was at howard, which is the school she eventually ended up at. I'd recommend the John H. Johnson school of communications at howard. D.C. is a great city for this major, and Howard is an excellent university.
Wow, I would have never guessed jackson state to carry that kind of rep. guess I'd fit right in lol (according to your aunt). Now I'm from DC and live literally to blocks away from Howard, but I think I'm going to have to do my research. Can someone further elaborate on Howard's Communication program though. I plan on transferring by Fall '09.

I can, but you would need to be specific as to the type of information you are looking for...our communications program has many different majors and minors.
Until then, maybe you can find what you are looking for here: Howard University - School of Communications
