Curse words...Do you believe? Posted on 10-06-2003

The words themselves are not bad it's just the context in which people have used them in over the years that has made them bad.

Yes its hard to stop cursing....cuz when you start you can't stop! I try not to curse, but sometimes I have those days when I just can't help it! Yes I believe its a sin because its foul language, you didn't hear God, or Jesus saying F**k anybody or S**t to anybody in the BIBLE :!: You just have to pray on it and ask God to help you stop, and to forgive you for it!
So they only acceptable words are thoughs uttered by Jesus? Plus, Jesus might of said it, they just didnt see any need to include it, I mean hey, He might have hit his toe against a table and said "aw s**t" I doubt anyone would have thought to include it

Word up.....I feel all ya'll......there is no such thing as a curse WORD......only bad speech......we can't let society define what words are bad and what words are good......if I say, "I'm gonna beat your A*S" and I say "Damn girl you have a nice A*S" one is obviously being use in good context and one in bad......but in society they are both bad because A*s is considered a curse word.....(waving finger in tha air furiously sounding like day day from next friday) saying thats some BULLSH*T :x ).....just my 2 cents.... mik

I don't believe curse words are a sin, but I do believe one who calls themself saved or a Christian should refrain from using words that are deragatory or hurtful.

Yeah I guess I can see if Jesus said "aw s**t" I hit my toe on that table it wouldn't be in the BIBLE, but its a lot of things that Jesus/God did that aren't in the Bible, if it all was the Bible would be NEVER ENDING, because he still does stuff nowadays. However I'm just saying if you're a Christain or call yourself to be relgious you should try to refrain/ not curse. Its not like we be in church like yeah that sermon was the s**t, or f**k church is over now! You don't say those words in church, because they are foul and its disrespectful to God. Things that are wrong are sins, if curse words weren't sins how come we weren't allowed to say them in front of our parents when we were younger? In my opinion I think its a sin, because I wouldn't talk to God cursing at him, and I was taught curisng are bad words, and bad things are sins! By the way if you believe in God, and the Bible etc. it says that the Holy Trinity was perfect, if all three were perfect they wouldn't been cursing at all, and we are suppose to try and live our lives like God, and how can we do that if we are cursing? Yes I curse, I try not to, but I do, but I'm not saying its right, and I'm working on trying to stop it.

I don't care whether they're wrong or right. I very seldom use them.

Which brings me back to my point. Who's to judge what's considered obscene? If I don't consider fukk obscene than am I sinning? I don't think cursing is a sin. It's a matter of morals and personal opinion because there is no clear cut explanation as to what is considered to be obscene. As to why you can't do it in front of your parents when you're young... there are a lot of things as a child your parents forbid you to do. I stayed with my grams and she forbid me from watching wrestling because she thought it was too ****. Does that mean watching wrestling is a sin?

At one point it was considered wrong for women to do anything else but have babies, it was considered wrong for a Black person and a White person to be friends. Now are you saying all these things were sins, and those who committed them back then are all sinners? Are maybe, there is a more profound God created rules which should govern our society, and to disobey them would be sins. See, if this is true, I dont think God truly cares about what words are curse or not. Instead, to violate the true rules would be sins. But hey, each to his/her own.

Again, when my parents were younger blacks werent allowed to sit on the front of the bus. Was this a sin? Is Rosa Parks nothing more than a sinner or was she following a higher rule that we should all be equal. What man has declared to be wrong isnt always what God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit declare to be sins, again this is my view.

Question is, in Jesus day were there even curse words. Consider the word ****. In his day, this word was only used to describe an animal, so it was not even possible for it to be a curse word, futhermore, other words which are "cursed" did not come about till later. So did Jesus not say them because they were wrong, or because they were yet in exsitence on Earth? Then lets think about what was considered curse words. Jesus was curcified for, among other things, what was considered blashphemy, Well, wouldnt this be the same as curse words? They were words that at that time society believe to be wrong to be uttered. Was he a sinner? Or again, was he serving some higher purpose? Frankly, I dont see why the Trinity would care about what words are used, instead I feel that the intent. One could hurt another, blashphem (sp), against all without uttering a single curse word. We declare curse words, heck, we declared what would be considered words at all, we decided whatmeaning they have. I dont see why God would care about this, again my 2 cents
