Okay. So I applied early notification for Spelman and I didn't get in. HOWEVER, my application was put into the regular application pool for reconsideration. I am like freaking out because Spelman is my first, second, and errr my third college choice!!!!! Just out of curiosity, has this happened to anyone else who has applied to Spelman? And if so how did/ how are you handling it? When times get tough, and I get tired, I won’t back up, back off, back down, back out or backslide. I keep moving forward by God’s grace because I’m Spirit-led, purpose-driven and mission-focused. I will not be compromised and I cannot QUIT!

Same thing happened to me Diva 09 and at first I was freaking out to because Spelman is my dream school, but now I'm not worrying about it anymore. I don't know what your religious beliefs are or how strong your faith is so this may not help, but ever since I got that letter in the mail I have been hearing the same message from preachers saying if you want it you have to claim it and put your name on it. At first I though it was a joke but after about the seventh time I started to believe it. While I was waiting for my first letter I always had doubt and that may have been my downfall but now I know I'm getting my letter in april, may sound cocky but hey lol, and if I don't I know that Spelman is really not where God wants me to be. Hope this helps My friend got in and her credentials (based on your scores posted above) were not as strong so don't worry about it I have faith in the both of us.

MariaBR...... Yesssssss!!!!I've been hearing the same thing. And my faith is my foundation, and I believe it.And yes I am claiming it. But at times I do get discouraged just when I think about. I do believe that I am going to get into Splman. And you wil too. Girl you just made my day, and this whole blog is irrelevant to me now!!! Thanks a ton and have a blessed one. HowardBound09- I don'twork in Howard's admissions, but I would assume that this is good. I'll say just keep them informed. Try e-mailing or calling you admissions rep. frequently(I do and we chat like good girlfriends). Send in those grades or wutever. But you gotta show them how much you wanna be there. You do't want the thousands of people who ARE calling to "out-shine" you, so make them notice you, show them that this is where you wanna be.:-)

It was suggested. What did your letter from Howard say? That was a general explanation. But, I elaborated on my internship and the various things I'm involved in within my community(i.e. mentorship program, various church activities and community outreach programs).I spoke on how passionate I was about each activity in which I am involved in. I spoke on how I've learned significant lessons from each of these activities. I also talked about how most of my knowledge comes from outside of the classroom and how I would bring with me to Spelman a willingness to learn more as well as a charitable spirit, since Spelman is big on lifting up and giving back. I'm not quite sure what type of explanation you're looking for ashgilly, but I hope this answered your question. If not, then sorry. Good luck on your application and I hope everything goes smoothly for you once you apply.
ooooohhhh okay, now it makes more sense. from what i got from your previous statement was that you just talked about how great spelman was. . .but thanks, and i hope everything comes out positive for you as well

@ Diva_09. I am impressed with your credentials. I think you have an excellent chance at being admitted to Spelman. If possible, I recommend sending additional recommendation letters. Best wishes with your future endeavors.
