I was sitting in my World Civ class today and just started wondering....which class do most Black people affiliate themselves with?
To the HBCU students, which class do you associate yourself (and/or your family) with - lower, middle, or upper? And why? Also, is there a specific section of the class (lower-lower, middle-upper, upper-lower, etc.) you fall in...?
And even, what do you feel makes someone lower, middle, or upperclass person?
Just wondering....
The **** (Securities and Exchange Commission) classifies rich people as folks making over 200,000 per year. So according to their definition, I'd have to say I'm middle-upper. My mother is a college administrator who just got her tenure, which means she makes 100,000. My dad is a jazz musician who makes about 50-60 thousand a year. I'm not too sure what he makes but he definitely made 60 thousand in 2001. I found out when he was buying me my car. I had to force it out of my mom to tell me how much she makes lol. Parents are wierd like that.
