Now that you're over 20 (or 21) years old, what things do you refuse to do now that you used to do back in the day?
Example...I refuse to sneak into anything, I refuse to show ID at the local cigar/coffee bar. I refuse to ask for the remote over my girlfriends crib while she's watching Golden Girls...because Golden Girls is a damn good show now.
I also refuse to go outside of the house without a belt on. And I also tuck in my shirts a lot more than I used to. Damn I'm starting to feel like my pops more and more everyday. I also refuse to go without my cowboy hat on the weekends (dont call me wierd...im just a lil' southern).
And I refuse to turn my radio down while i'm listening to the Ohio Players or any other Funk/Blues/Old School music.
When I was coming up, white T-shirts were made to be underneath your real shirt, to keep the sweat off. But then again I'm a Generation Xer, so yall can do what you do.
I also don't get the dressing like someone else, and uniformity of it all. Reminds me of pledgin. . .
ummmm i know people 24+ that still listen to hip hop and do a lot of the things u guys mentioned....so age has nothing to do with it buddy! it all depends on the person

Well I feel like once u get a certain age, there are things that u must stop doing.....now not listening to rap is not one of them....but just things that Ms. Mocha named

i only said hip hop because he kept saying he listens to jazz and what not more
i'm not 20 yet, but i will be in March... i am starting to feel a little older (or actually more mature)... i find that i don't try to impress men anymore... i don't try to wear nice clothes and flaunt around guys that i think are cute... i'm starting to find myself thinking about the future more... about having a good career and raising a family... and i'm actually more serious about my schoolwork... and recently i pulled out my mom's boxes of CD's... lately i've been listening to Al Green and Earth Wind and Fire more than Snoop and Dr. Dre
Nothing wrong with listening to hip-hop. . . but it's how you embrace the "culture" of hip-hop, not necessarily the music.
I'm not into the concerts too much anymore, because they are usually boring. Singers are much more entertaining.
And I think that after a certain age, one should begin to embrace more "adult" themes for their lives.
I'm not knocking hip-hop at all (i still listen to it)...but my horizon's aren't as narrow as they were 2 or 3 years ago. I listen to a load of jazz (grover, miles davis, Fourplay, Kim Waters), i've always listened to the blues because my pop always listened to it. But I just dont accept hip hop like i used to. Im getting closed minded when it comes to the new stuff. Its like, once you hear what the old folks call "real music", you actually start to understand that it is real music. There were no Akai MPC 2000 drum machines. There were no synthesized sounds generated through a super keyboard. Just a drumset, a few guitars, saxophones, trumpets and a few good voices. You didn't have to be the next "American Idol" in order to get respected in music. All you needed was desire and talent. Case in point: Curtis Mayfield. The Ohio Players. Melanie Ripperton....what ya'll know about that?
Although I am not yet 18, I do have to say that I some of the statments made about becoming mature are correct. I could not stand people in high school that wore shirts with "what's ur name?" and " I lost my number can I have yours?". Although I was in high school I do believe girls should have a more mature approach towards their style of dress. I have more 2 say about this but I am unable 2 think.
Like you said, different strokes for differnt folks. I know alot of people under 20 that act older than people that are over 20 and viceversa so girl if you feel like you've got the mind of an old woman speak you're peace!
