Why must we call our handsome Black men, ****? I don't see the point to it. They are men, guys, boys but not n!ggas, nuccas, niccas, etc. So why do I continue to see the ladies of HBCU's calling the males that label?

*coughs* I had a friend who had this thing with his girlfriend whereas shed come over and be like..."Im dat b*tch..." and hed say "Im dat n*gga..." and theyd kiss...They were both from the Chi, and I never dared to ask what they were talking about... I suppose words are relative for everyone. Their meaning and their connotation can strike fear or...make you laugh. If I believe that saying "Whassup niggz?" is going to make someone uncomfortable, I wont...but its my slang, and amongst my group imma do whatever the f*ck I want. Cuz we are comfortable with it. Its not condescending, its actually just me and my boys meeting on a level that we can vibe at. So you all can fuss about the word...imma go express my 1st amendment...damn I love being an American...

then plz explain the mentality behind this. why would u feel comfortable to use it against ur homies but would be highly **** for a person of another race to use it? i f i were an *insert race/nationality* and i mistakenly called u a "N", thinking that u didnt mind to be referred to by this name, why would it be a big deal?

Only we, as a people can take a name, that was meant to degrade us, defile us and humilate us, spin it around and make it a term of endearment.Negative turned positive. Some things dont' change..but other things do. If you dont' see things the way I do, doesn't make it wrong...its just a difference of opinions. Some people see the word **** and it means, my brother, my blood, my people. Other people hear the word **** and see ****. I see two very different words here. Its when we let this word defile us, degrade us and humilate us, is when this word becomes of its true essence...hate. In no way am I saying that its roots arn't vicious and vile...but we have a history and lets not continue to let that same evil from years and years ago still pull us down now.

PREACH!!! I use the "n" word, and I will not apologize for it. I use the word refering to males as well as females. The way I see it, if the word is going to be used i would much rather hear it as a word used to unify members of my own race, than to demean us. We, as a race, have had a hard struggle to get where we are today. Rather than trying to forget our past, I appreciate the fact that our people have chosen to embrace it, and wear it as a badge of honor. The reason that we say people of other ethnicities should not use the word is because a lot of their people did not go through the same struggles as our ancestors. We have earned the right to use the "n" word, and nobody can take that away.

I kinda understand the connotation of ur friends. It's like a matter of respect on an ultimate level. If u know that im that itch and u that nyga, it's like u just drew boundary lines around yall and stepping out or on one of them is ultimate disrespect. It's basically acknowledement. This may sound like im contradicting my previous msg, but im from the Chi so i know what u mean.
